The Schwarzman Animal Medical Center (AMC) is offering a position as an Internal Medicine Senior Veterinarian. Requirements for this position are ACVIM board certification in Internal Medicine and eligibility for a New York State license. As an internist at AMC, you will have the chance to train residents and interns and be challenged daily in a unique opportunity that blends clinical practice and academics and allows for cross pollination of ideas between clinicians and residents. AMC comprises almost every specialty and subspecialty of small animal medicine and surgery, with an emphasis on collaborative medicine, offering a chance to expand your personal clinical skillset. The hospital provides an environment where learning new procedures is possible and encouraged. The Internal Medicine Department is fully staffed with state-of-the-art equipment for endoscopy, bronchoscopy, cystoscopy, ultrasonography, laparoscopy, and interventional radiology. You will be part of our internal medicine team of 7 boarded specialists and dedicated hospitalists. Internal medicine works closely with the Interventional Radiology and Endoscopy Service, staffed with 2 boarded specialists. In addition, the Internal Medicine Department has a dedicated Hemodialysis and Extracorporeal Therapy Service. State-of-the-art CT and MRI are also available, overseen by our Diagnostic Imaging Department with 4 radiologists. Our assistant and licensed veterinary technician team is highly familiar with all internal medicine and interventional procedures. Additionally, our staff practice a high level of anesthetic competency overseen by our Anesthesia Department to assist with complex and high-risk cases. As a Senior Veterinarian, your job will be a hybrid between outpatient clinical medicine, inpatient care, and procedures. You will also participate in oversight of residents, teaching of interns, and contribute to and participate in academic teaching rounds. As a Level 1 Trauma Center, we have an expanded capacity and dedication to providing critical care to the patients that we service. A close relationship with the Emergency and Critical Care Department allows for joint oversight and awareness of ICU patients. This allows for early recognition and intervention of decompensating patients when we cannot be available.
