As the Associate, Fund Manager Research will be responsible for operational due diligence reviews for hedge funds, private equity, and real estate funds. The role holder will co-ordinate and attend due diligence meetings across all strategies including equity long/short, statistical, systematic, convertible, merger arbitrage, trading, macro, credit, fixed income, mortgages, private credit, and UCITS and across private equity fund structures including co-investments and secondary funds, focused on the Americas market. The Associate - Fund Manager Research will attend the alternative investment committee and global research committee which is responsible for determining the alternative funds that are eligible for investment across HSBC. It is anticipated that the position will include about 20% travel. This role will directly report to the Global Head of Fund Manager Research. They will be responsible for being involved in team projects and extracurricular activities to enhance the team's footprint in the Americas. The role holder will need to communicate and establish good working relationships with senior members of the alternative asset management business, asset management business and the global private bank. The role holder will need to review documentation and conduct interviews on-site with hedge funds, private equity funds and real estate funds C-Suite to establish facts pertaining to business and operational risk and evaluate the overall quality of systems, controls, infrastructure, and personnel. Here's what you can expect: The Associate, Fund Manager Research will write and review detailed reports containing comprehensive information and analysis related to the business and operational environment at the hedge funds, private equity funds and real estate funds and ensure that there is ongoing monitoring completed on all investments for the platform (circa 500 investments). Associate - Fund Manager Research will be required to conduct ESG analysis and compile ESG scorecard and assessment reports for investments on the platform. The role holder will be included in the research for foreign markets to assess regulatory and tax issues involving trading/establishing a local presence in those markets. The role holder will be involved in special projects which include system implementations, enhancements of proprietary systems, financial crime and compliance frameworks for investments, and regulatory initiatives. The role holder will be required to participate in client meetings and pitches for prospective clients and present at oversight forums within the bank. Knowledge of operations in the asset management business or real estate and private equity operations is required. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required. For this role, HSBC targets a fixed pay range between $155,700 and $233,600. The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location. You'll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role: Over 4 years working in operational due diligence or an audit firm auditing alternative investment product (hedge funds and/ or Private Equity funds) or the operations and/or audit departments of an asset management firm preferred. Undergraduate bachelor's degree in accounting and finance and with a Chartered Accountant qualification, Certified Public Accountant ("CPA") license or Chartered Financial Analyst ("CFA") qualification. Working knowledge of industry standards for the asset management industry, specifically hedge funds and private markets, including familiarity with policies, procedures and "best practices". Knowledge of hedge funds and pooled investment products. Knowledge and the ability to implement an ESG framework into the research process. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong operations experience required. Works well in team environment. Good analytical skills. Strong organizational skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office, Bloomberg, Allocator, and alternative investment databases. Self-starter, able to demonstrate initiative, well-developed time management skills.
