The purpose of the class is to facilitate aspects of Hampton Coliseum and the American Theatre show load in through load out working with show promoters and their production teams. This class works under general supervision according to set procedures, but determines how or when to complete tasks. This class may be assigned to Hampton Coliseum or the American Theatre. Minimum Requirements High school diploma or successful completion of GED required. Requires a minimum of four (4) years of full-time equivalent experience working with venues and show production. A current State of Virginia Journeyman Electrician License is preferred. A combination of education and experience may be considered for this position. Requires thorough knowledge of occupational hazards and necessary safety and fire code precautions applicable to event production in an arena and/or performing arts theatre. Must successfully pass a background check and other tests related to the class. Must possess a valid driver's license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record based on the City of Hampton's criteria. Additional Requirements Requires demonstratable knowledge of theatre fly system operation when assigned to the American Theatre. Requires effective communication with internal and external customers as well as maintaining harmonious working relationships in addition to working independently. Required organization skills and ability to manage multiple assignments under time constraints. Requires working non-standard hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. The incumbent may be considered "essential personnel" during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules. for a complete job description.
