LHH is looking for a full-time Construction Accountant to join our client growing company in Bellevue, WA. This position will be a 6-month contract that is fully onsite at the client location. Job Overview: The Construction Accountant plays a critical role in managing and overseeing the financial aspects of construction projects. They are responsible for monitoring budgets, tracking expenses, preparing financial reports, and ensuring the financial health of projects. The Construction Accountant works closely with project managers, contractors, and other team members to ensure that all financial transactions are recorded accurately and in compliance with applicable regulations. Key Responsibilities: Project Financial Management: Manage all financial aspects of construction projects, including cost tracking, budget analysis, and financial reporting. Cost Monitoring: Track project costs, analyze variances, and compare actual costs to budgets, ensuring projects stay within financial constraints. Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in creating budgets for construction projects and provide financial forecasts to help project managers make informed decisions. Invoice Processing: Review and process invoices from subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contract terms. Payroll and Labor Costs: Monitor and report on labor costs, ensuring compliance with wage regulations and contracts. Job Cost Accounting: Maintain detailed job cost reports for individual projects, tracking progress billing, change orders, and financial performance. Month-End Close: Reconcile accounts, review general ledger entries, and prepare month-end financial reports specific to construction projects. Compliance and Auditing: Ensure that financial practices comply with industry standards, government regulations, and contractual obligations. Assist with internal and external audits as needed. Cash Flow Management: Monitor cash flow for ongoing projects, coordinating with project managers and leadership to address any cash shortages or financial challenges. Coordination with Project Managers and Teams: Work closely with project managers to provide financial insights, assist in contract administration, and offer support in decision-making related to project financials. Tax and Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all projects comply with local, state, and federal tax regulations, including the timely filing of sales tax, use tax, and payroll tax returns. Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 3-5 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in the construction industry. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or specialized construction accounting software). Strong knowledge of construction financial management, cost accounting, and job costing. Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Familiarity with construction contracts and change orders is a plus. Preferred Certifications: CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CCIFP (Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional) is highly desirable.
