About the Role: The Senior Copy Editor is responsible for executing the daily tasks of running the project(s) assigned to them in accordance with client expectations as overseen by the Client Manager, Senior Manager, or Associate Director. How you will make an impact: Self-sufficient with strong understanding of essential copyediting skills and strong relationship-building skills with project stakeholders. According to client contract, may be responsible for daily management of copyediting assignments, tracking papers, meeting deadlines, and serving as the primary point of contact for all project stakeholders. Collects and records institutional knowledge for the publication(s) they work on (e.g., maintain protocols, style guides, contact list, etc.). Understands key business drivers or priorities; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. May be responsible for collecting invoicing information for billing clients. Acts as primary resource and mentor for Assistant Copy Editors and/or Copy Editors within the client group. Distributes work to Assistant Copy Editors and/or Copy Editors as directed in the Content Management Division. Ultimately responsible for the day-to-day completion of all project/client tasks. Contributes to performance reviews for the employees within client/project group. Is in continual contact with the Client Manager/Senior Manager in regard to the performance of the individuals within their group. Oversees training for Assistant Copy Editors and Copy Editors working on the project as directed. Shows engagement and leadership within the company. Shows good judgment and ability to think critically and problem-solve. Works proactively with Client Manager/Senior Manager to improve efficiency and processes of existing projects. Onboards new projects to the client group as needed, under supervision of the Client Manager or Senior Manager. Acts as the primary point of contact for all project stakeholders at forward facing events/calls/meetings involving the client or project. Has demonstrated engagement with industry-level publishing concepts. Upholds high standards of professionalism and courtesy when working with colleagues and clients. Ensures the work environment - virtual and in-person - is free of non-work-related distractions and provides the same environment for co-workers. What we look for: Bachelor's degree or other relevant education. Minimum 3 years of experience in publishing or other professional copyediting experience. Prior experience with a style guide; Experience with AMA style guide is a plus but not required. Proficient in MS Office products. Experience providing outstanding customer service, managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders, and working in highly collaborative team settings. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks within a time-driven, deadline-based environment. Experience in customer service, time management, and task prioritization.
