In 2023 the organization celebrated the Council of Accreditation's (COA) expedited report with outstanding outcomes and zero deficiencies across all programs and departments employing approximately 180 individuals. Our strategic plan focuses on Families, Community Partners, Volunteers, Staff and Governance(Board). What do we need? The Controller is responsible for overseeing the company's accounting operations and ensuring the execution and adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, agency policies, and procedures under the direct supervision of the Chief Finance Officer. Responsible for supervising finance staff. The controller will produce the financial statements and play a key role in financial planning, budgeting, and strategic analysis to support organizational goals. Essential Functions: Trains and provides support for and back-up processing for all finance staff responsibilities. Works with Advancement in managing grants, financial tracking, and financial records. Ensures monthly and annual reconciliation of accounting records to fundraising software. Responsible for the preparation of and delivery of state required reports. Assists with annual audit. Works with CFO to manage agency insurance programs, analysis, and renewals. Performs and/or directs internal audits and reconciliations to ensure compliance with policies and procedures and best accounting practices. Assists with the annual budgeting process, including preparation, development, and analysis. Oversees general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. Back up for Payroll Develops and implement internal controls and procedures to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data. Oversees and perform tasks for the Federal Food Program Assists with other administrative tasks as needed. Back up for the receptionist for Breaks and absences when needed. Represents the Finance Department in inter-department meetings and committees. Assists with preparation for accreditation, including developing finance policies and procedures. Leads, mentors, and develops the accounting team Implements best practices and continuous improvement initiatives. Fosters a collaborative and high-performance work environment. Manages assigned finance responsibilities of the organization's fundraising events. Charitable gaming records management to ensure compliance with gaming regulations, gaming reports, and applications Monthly accounting period closing responsibilities. Assists with the BHSO program in developing and managing MCO behavioral health medical billing. Reviews and updates policy and procedures by best practices, standards, and regulations. Prepares financial statements for CFO review. Other duties as assigned Education and Experience: Minimum education requirement of Bachelor Degree in Accounting/Finance or Business. 4 - 5 years accounting or finance experience being trained with all aspects of accounting procedures and analysis. Proficient use of Microsoft Office programs Knowledge and working experience in Sage100 preferred. Medical billing and/or experience with Medical Records Software for medical billing preferred.
