Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it. **Job Description:** Your role as a Material Requirements Manager at Caterpillar is to manage staff and activities related to maintaining proper levels of stock or inventory. **Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:** + Facility Material Requirements Manager + Supervising Logistics Planning Analyst (LPA) + Responsible for management of supplier shipping performance (SSP), past due schedules & clean to ship (CTS) execution + Coordinating with multiple functions, such as manufacturing, procurement, etc., to acquire appropriate requirements to meet development and accuracy standards. + Managing day-to-day activities of inventory administration staff; participating in interviewing, hiring, and training and development of associates. + Ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures; implementing loss prevention procedures and practices. + Participating in planning inventory and defining optimal inventory levels and adjustment authority; monitoring inventory levels. **Top Candidates Will Have:** + APICS CPIM or CSPC National Certification highly desired + Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills. + College or university degree related to Supply Chain, or equivalent experience, is desired + Excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills + Solid product knowledge + Excellent teamwork and leadership skills + Strong supplier relationship management skills + The ability to develop and deploy creative / original solutions to complex problems + Thorough understanding of company policies and procedures, especially supplier-focused Caterpillar initiatives + Solid logistics and manufacturing knowledge **What Skills you will have:** **Information Capture:** Knowledge of the methods, channels and processes to obtain needed information; ability to identify, capture and document relevant business information in an auditable, organized, understandable and easily retrievable manner. Level Extensive Experience: Enhances the processes and procedures used in the organization's records retention program. Uses detailed knowledge of records retention program to conduct training and/or meetings. Ensures that all exceptions and unusual circumstances are properly captured and reviewed. Coordinates and monitors the various steps involved in a records retention program. Helps others understand how the recording of information impacts other business units. Provides guidance in documenting pertinent information. **Planning: Tactical, Strategic:** Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan. Level Extensive Experience: Develops, refines, and communicates tactical plans for own responsibilities. Provides the right level of detail as input for strategic plan development. Demonstrates the value and necessity of linking tactical plans to overall strategic plan. Ensures attention to the detail and dependencies of existing departmental-level plans. Plans for allocation of resources in line with unit goals, technical and business objectives. Ensures the planning process is integrated with the overall business plan. **Decision Making and Critical Thinking:** Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment. Level Extensive Experience: Differentiates assumptions, perspectives, and historical frameworks. Evaluates past decisions for insights to improve decision-making process. Assesses and validates decision options and points and predicts their potential impact. Advises others in analyzing and synthesizing relevant data and assessing alternatives. Uses effective decision-making approaches such as consultative, command, or consensus. Ensures that assumptions and received wisdom are objectively analyzed in decisions. **Problem Solving:** Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations. Level Extensive Experience: Ensures capture of lessons to be learned from a problem-solving effort. Organizes potential problem solvers and leads problem resolution efforts. Uses varying problem-solving approaches and techniques as appropriate. Contributes to standard practices for problem-solving approaches, tools, and processes. Analyzes and synthesizes information and devises alternative resolution strategies. Develops successful resolutions to critical or wide-impact problems. **Inventory Management:** Knowledge of processes and methods of inventory management; ability to effectively manage organization's materials, commodities, merchandises, or products. Level Extensive Experience: Coordinates daily work of inventory management for different locations within a facility or a supply network. Devises standard inventory management benchmarks to improve the processes. Ensures that the inventory is at an appropriate level and meets both internal and external requirements. Provides guidance on inventory management for a specific product group or location. Applies systems and processes to identify and coordinate inventory requirements; resolves conflicts. Reviews reports used for inventory management to find out related problems. **Supply Chain Management:** Knowledge of functions, principles and techniques used in supply chain management; ability to develop and implement strategies, practices and tools for controlling the whole processes. Level Extensive Experience: Quantifies and evaluates benefits and risks of various supply chain strategies and approaches. Participates in joint planning, process design/redesign with clients and partners. Monitors the complete supply chain management process. Manages supply chain finance activities and measurements of effectiveness. Consults on supply chain network design projects or processes.
