Job Description Times Opinion is hiring a video journalist with a specialization in video editing to cut weekly episodes of The Ezra Klein Show. This is a production heavy position that will be responsible for editing long form podcasts into fluid digital video. You will be responsible for editing and mastering of video (sound mastering will be done under Ezra Klein Show audio engineers) under intense deadlines. The ideal candidate for this position should have a refined understanding of editing techniques in multi-camera environments with a meticulous attention to detail. You will have an in-depth knowledge of Adobe Premiere, After Effects and DaVinci Resolve. During the production phase of the Ezra Klein Show, this video journalist will assist the Ezra Klein Show Cinematography acting as second camera operator and assisting with building and breaking down sets. While your primary job is editing, this position should have strong knowledge of camera systems in order to assist the cinematographer on set. In this role, you'll work day-to-day under the Deputy Director of Opinion Video and the Supervising Editor of the Ezra Klein Show to ensure flawless and consistent productions. You will report to the Deputy Director of Opinion Video. Responsibilities: Manage video editing of the Ezra Klein Show. Take the lead in post production and delivery and guard aesthetic standards of the Ezra Klein Show. Work with the Ezra Klein Show producers to ensure productions will create perfect video. Work with the Ezra Klein Show cinematographer to ensure fast and efficient workflow from production to post production. Work with the Ezra Klein Show audio engineers to ensure perfect audio quality in video. Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world. Perform related work as assigned. Basic Qualifications: 8+ years of editing and/or video journalism experience The ability to edit quickly with Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects and DVinci Resolve. Preferred Qualifications: Must have a proven track record of solid editorial judgment that aligns with the ethics of The Times newsroom Must be comfortable working on tight, demanding deadlines and in high-stress breaking news situations, and can juggle multiple projects at any given time Must be highly organized with the ability to manage complex schedules This position is represented by the NewsGuild of NY. The annual base pay salary for this role is between $122,529.36 and $130,000.00.
