Those with 8 years or more of required experience can expect offers up to the midpoint of the salary range. Metra provides full pay ranges so candidates can consider their growth potential. Financial Affairs is headed by the Chief Financial Officer and divided into four groups: Treasury; Accounting, Budget and Management Analysis and Business Efficiency & Process Improvement. The core mission of these groups is to provide accurate financial information so that Metra can run its business efficiently. Together these departments employ approximately 100 people. The Financial Analyst 2 will conduct financial analyses and operating reviews of Metra's operations which can include operations that Metra directly controls, operations that are governed by purchase of service agreements, joint facility agreements, passenger ridership and fares, utilities, fuel and other activities that require detailed financial analysis. Metra is a railroad employer subject to the provisions of the Railroad Retirement Tax Act, not the Social Security Administration. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent curriculum required. In addition to #1, must have three (3) years of progressively responsible financial analysis, accounting, reporting, or budget experience, in any combination. Must have thorough knowledge of financial statements, accounting principles/concepts, financial modeling, application of analytical tools, and variance analysis. Must have proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Access skills are a plus. Must have advanced skills in Excel, including pivot tables and financial modeling. Proficiency using ERP financial systems required. MS Dynamics preferred. Ability to successfully perform independent, in-depth analysis, and generate concise conclusions. Must have excellent oral/written communication, presentation, and organization skills. Ability to stand, walk, and/or sit, for extended periods of time. Hearing/visual acuity, far/near, depth perception, field of vision, and color vision. Must be available to work flexible hours in the early morning, late afternoon, evenings, or weekends. Preferences: CMA or CPA is a plus.
