SALARY RANGE $27.00 - $30.00 Per hour The Jewish Engagement Coordinator is responsible for designing and supporting opportunities to engage a vibrant Jewish community. The Public Programs Team is nested within the JCCSF's Roots & Culture Department, bringing people together to cultivate lives of joy and meaning in the space where the wisdom of Jewish cultures meets the rich, cultural diversity of San Francisco. This role advances projects and partnerships supporting Jewish holidays, rituals, cultural arts, Tikkun HaOlam (social action), Shabbat, Israel programming, staff gatherings, and cross-departmental initiatives. The coordinator is responsible for creating, planning, facilitating (including Jewish rituals), and day-of staffing for Public Programs. These vary in size, location, and complexity, including festivals with 500+ attendees, concerts, meals, intimate gatherings, and drop-in activity stations. The coordinator works closely with internal operations teams and strategic Jewish community partners. This role also coordinates the Jewish Ritual Lending Library, leading operations with excellent customer service, instructional materials, and a focus on partnership development. RESPONSIBILITIES Experience Design - 40% Develop and implement the creative, logistical, and staffing components for selected Jewish holiday celebrations, rituals, and civic engagement (including donation drives and community service projects). Design thematic content and hands-on projectsby researching and developing relationships with talent (musicians, artists, chefs, dancers, teachers, etc.), local businesses and community organizations. Attend partner and community events to develop best practices, build relationships, and stay current on local gatherings. Community Engagement and Staffing - 20% Serve as lead staff member at activations and events, making real-time operational decisions and representing the JCCSF to public participants. Community engagement and activity facilitation hosted onsite (90%) and offsite (10%), including staff engagement for all-hands meetings and holiday celebrations onsite. Represent the JCCSF at partner programs, both onsite and in the community, and occasionally assist with planning and logistics. Represent the JCCSF in a Young Adult Peer Connector Network, developing skills and strategies in relational-based engagement. Liaison for young adults to local Jewish resources and organizations. Work with strategic partners to build and maintain relationships with new and existing organizations, using internal systems to track and coordinate efforts. Respond to and advance community partner inquiries about collaborative programming and space use, in collaboration with the Private Events and Rentals team. Occasional staffing for Lifelong Learning, Arts & Ideas and other Roots & Culture programs. Event Coordination - 30% Manage end-to-end execution of activations / events while supporting a high-quality guest experience. Advance event-related details for Public Programs team: Input, adjust and maintain complex program calendar Identify onsite facility needs including space use, a/v production and maintenance Drive clear internal communication, in collaboration with internal operational teams, asynchronously and while attending weekly cross-functional meetings. Provide run-of-show, space layout and physical traffic flow diagrams. Coordinate and manage vendor relationships and logistics; become a resource for colleagues on event-related vendors. Ensure that event planning, vendors, and partners meet safety, health, food, alcohol, and JCCSF policies. Support marketing needs by writing and proofing copy. Purchase, source and maintain supplies for Public Programs. Drive JCCSF van to transport materials needed for events Jewish Ritual Resource Lending Library -10% Coordinate the library, including contracts, inventory, and borrowing logistics. Oversee instructional content in collaboration with the Senior Educator. Deliver excellent customer service to community members and partner organizations. Research and build relationships to expand the project's impact. REQUIREMENTS Minimum of (3) years of hands-on experience in planning and producing events with the ability to design and facilitate hands-on cultural arts programming for intergenerational audiences. Experience working as lead staff person for public-facing programs. Knowledge of Jewish culture and holidays, with awareness of the depth of diversity within Jewish culture, past and present. Experience leading common Jewish rituals e.g. Shehechianu, Shabbat blessings, Hanukkah candle-lighting (excludes prayer services, Passover seder) Availability during select weekends and evenings is required, including work on some Jewish holidays (excluding Yom Kippur) Strong time management and organizational skills; ability to work on many projects and prioritize successfully; ability to manage both immediate and long-term timelines Clear communication and facilitation between colleagues, vendors and community partners. Proficiency in Microsoft 365 Office software; experience with calendar and database software Experience with Salesforce a plus Ability to work in an environment that honors a diversity of opinions, Jewish pluralism, multiculturalism, and intergenerational approaches. Must have valid driver's license and clean MVR. WORKING CONDITIONS Work in public settings, work in crowded/loud environments, work outside in varying weather conditions, work offsite at a variety of venue locations. Administrative tasks to be performed primarily on-site at the JCCSF facility; remote work is available occasionally based on department's work schedules and needs. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Lift and carry supplies, use ladders and stepstools, use pushcart and wagons, maneuver through crowded venues, drive company vehicle, work on computers from a seated or standing position. STATUS Benefited, non-exempt, collective bargaining unit position COLLECTIVE BARGAINING UNIT CLASSIFICATION Professional 1 HOURS/SCHEDULE 40 hours/week, weekend, evening, and holiday hours are required.
