Cetechs, a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), is looking for a General Surgeon to join our team of medical specialists at the Department of Veterans Affairs in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Qualifications and Requirements : Education: Degree of Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathy or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. Experience: 2 years Licensure/Certifications: Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia Must be a US Citizen; Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. Duties & Responsibilities: General Surgeon shall: be able to diagnose and treat all of the common general surgical conditions, including malignancies of the gastrointestinal tract (stomach, small and large intestine), gallbladder, endocrine system, skin and soft tissue. Experience and interest in vascular access (AV fistula creation especially), upper and lower endoscopy, and advanced laparoscopy is preferred. May be asked to participate in call schedule after hours and at least one weekend a month and will need to possess the ability to respond promptly in emergent situations. be proficient in placement of central venous and arterial catheters and should feel comfortable supervising others in their placement. is responsible for seeing patients in consultation in both inpatient and outpatient settings. provides care of medical needs by performing examination, surgical consultation, and developing treatment and follow-up plans. will provide ongoing patient and family education throughout the course of treatment. adhere to policies and procedures regarding the completion of all required orders, operation/procedure notes/reports, discharge summaries, progress notes, clinical reminders, all other required medical documentation, and performance measures in a timely fashion; will ensure the most effective delivery of care, while meeting and exceeding compliance, Joint Commission and Central Office performance measure standards; will mentor, train and provide supervision for residents and mid-levels in all aspects of their duties as required; and performs other directly related duties as required.
