General Purpose: The Cheese & Coffee Associate provides customer-friendly service to our valuable customers and provides the quality products that Adams is known for. This means fulfilling customer requests, preparing cheese and coffee products for sale, stocking and rotating the case, being knowledgeable about product, and keeping the department clean. Reports to: Manager, Assistant Manager, Supervisor FLSA Status: Non-exempt Job Description: Ensure that each customer receives outstanding customer service by providing friendly, polite,and knowledgeable service Greet customers personally and thank them appreciatively for shopping at Adams Develop knowledge of product in order to assist customers in decision making & sampling; be aware of sale items and pricing Safely cut, clean, weigh and package cheese and other products for the case Measure, weigh, grind and label coffee per customer's specifications Stock and rotate products to keep older product in front, making sure each product is correctly labeled and there are no empty spaces Brew coffee, and make sure pots and station remains stocked and clean Make dips, spreads and peanut butter according to department specifications Package dips, spreads, and peanut butter; if assigned, package olives Produce a daily cut/ pack-out sheet and if assigned, conduct weekly inventory Be the final line for quality control: look for packaging issues, sell-by dates, and be vigilant about quality and presentation of all products put into the case Accurately take catering and special orders in person and on the phone Make custom platters, special orders, and catering orders according to customer specification Make specialty drinks per customer specification File items such as labels and signs; make sure to keep filing system organized Put out samples and keep sample area stocked and clean; if assigned, cut and serve samples If assigned, train new associates If assigned, place orders for product If assigned, received deliveries; check delivery ticket against what was ordered and received; communicate issues to management Clean tools, dishes, and all other department equipment Keep all areas of the department clean and organized, including sales floor, counters, cases, coolers, preparation and production areas When a customer needs assistance, give the customer priority over the task at hand Physical Requirements: Consistently lift and move 50 pounds Stand for duration of the shift Work in cold temperatures for duration of shift Safely use knives and other equipment necessary to run the department If assigned, be food safety certified Qualifications Communicate clearly with customers and co-workers Employees are our internal customers; treat them with the same courtesy and respect as our external customers Must work efficiently and at a productive pace per department needs Must be able to work scheduled shift Follow all department safety policies and procedures Be able to concentrate on tasks in order to avoid injury and waste of product Be knowledgeable about Adams product - recommend ideas to customers by exploring customer preferences and advocating Adams product Disclaimer: The above statements are intended to describe the general responsibilities of this position.
