Housekeeper

Job Type Part-time Description SUMMARY OF POSITION: Performs housekeeping and janitorial work in common areas of the building as well as in private resident apartments. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Clean resident apartments as assigned including bedrooms, living room, deep cleaning bathrooms and kitchens, and laundry rooms where applicable Performs housekeeping and janitorial work in common areas of building. Sweeps, mops and vacuums floors using a backpack vacuum cleaner. Use industrial carpet cleaner. Cleans windows, mirrors, pictures, mini-blinds; dusts furniture; cleans rest rooms; and collects and empties waste receptacles, including those containing biohazardous materials. Cleans, maintains, and repairs housekeeping equipment and materials. Inventories cleaning supplies in housekeeping rooms to ensure adequate stock, and inform Administrative Assistant regarding what supplies need to be ordered Additional duties as assigned by supervisor Requirements Some experience with cleaning private residences; or, Equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities. Knowledge of: current cleaning methods, materials, and equipment, including cleaning solutions, mops, buckets, dry vacuum cleaners, and cleaning and maintenance safety practices. Ability to: prepare cleaning materials and solutions, including choosing proper tools and cleaning agents; work in contact with strong cleaning and disinfecting solutions; speak English sufficiently to communicate with supervisor, tenants and fellow employees; understand and follow oral directions in English; read signs, labels, work schedules, and instructions; follow safety precautions and procedures; plan and complete assigned duties within allotted time frames; and work independently and well with others. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: Many of the essential functions of this class are characterized by demanding physical work requiring such physical activities as standing, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching. Salary Description $14.00 per hour
