Primary Purpose of the Position The primary role of the Investment Director is to support the growth of private equity investment strategy by leading commercial aspects of the business through representation in meetings and communications with institutional and intermediary prospects, clients, consultants, and internal staff. The Investment Director will provide support during the formation and raising of T. Rowe Price's first dedicated private fund focusing on late stage private companies. This first dedicated fund is an extension of the same strategy T. Rowe Price has historically executed from our mutual fund and separate account programs. The Investment Director will assist with all non-deal-execution workstreams across product formation, marketing, distribution, and investor relations. This role will serve as a subject matter expert to internal sales, marketing, and other functional areas for overall strategy and investment activity. The launch of a dedicated private vehicle is a first for the firm and falls squarely within the stated strategic initiative of growing the firm's alternatives business. Given the attractive long-term opportunity for the firm to develop a series of private vehicles, it is critical that the early funds are successful, both from a critical mass and performance perspective. To that end, the Investment Director will provide significant leverage to the investment team and allow them to devote the majority of their time and effort to the sourcing and investment process. The Investment Director also works closely with sales, consultant relations, client service, and other internal staff to communicate relevant information regarding the investment strategies supported, including reviewing investment performance, portfolio composition and characteristics, rationale investment decisions, etc. The Investment Director will work closely with sales and client service professionals across Global Distribution to represent the strategy in meetings and presentations. The Investment Director will also lead co-investment opportunity fundraising in coordination with the Global Distribution teams. Oversee commercial aspects of TRP's dedicated private equity investment platform. Represent the private equity platform and strategy to internal and external parties. Manage the formation and maintenance of TRP private funds, including most non-deal execution workstreams. Serve as SME to internal sales, marketing, and other functional areas for overall strategy and investment activity. Liaise with distribution teams globally to drive fundraising for private funds and co-investments. Drive messaging for marketing materials and externally facing collateral for private investment platform. Lead co-investment syndication efforts, representing the investment team to external clients. Manage ongoing client updates post-investment, working closely with TRP's alternative client service team. Extensive traveling should be expected. Expect 40-60% of their time on the road supporting our distribution partners, with additional time required in Baltimore where the Centralized Private Equity Team is primarily located. Qualifications Minimum 10 years of buy side experience in a similar role, portfolio management, or investment research, investment consulting, or institutional client service. Previous experience with equity alternatives strategies. Must have a passion for the private investment business with a deep understanding of private market concepts and a strong working knowledge of investment strategies and tactics. Demonstrated track record of success in effectively communicating complex concepts to a wide variety of audiences. Exceptional relationship management skills with the ability to interact well with portfolio managers, other investment professionals, sales and client service professionals, and institutional clients and consultants. Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills. Ability to work well within a collegial, but fast-paced and unstructured environment. Highly motivated and a self-starter. Possess a high level of personal integrity and a passion for achieving competitive results. Possess a high energy level and drive to succeed coupled with the poise and temperament necessary to work effectively in a team environment. Series 7 & 66 strongly preferred. FINRA Requirements FINRA licenses are required and will be supported for this role. Work Flexibility This role is eligible for full-time remote work. Regional Requirements: Base salary range: $175,000 - $275,000 USD for the locations of: Colorado, the State of Washington, California, and New York. Placement within the range provided above is based on the individual's relevant experience and skills for the role. Base salary is only one component of our total compensation package. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, which is determined upon company and individual performance. This job posting is expected to be available until 10/31/2024.
