LHH Recruitment Solutions is supporting a client of ours location in downtown Detroit. They are a law office and are seeking professionals with experience as a Collection Specialist within a law firm. This is a Contract/Temporary position. Reason open : Year-end collections support 2 positions available: Collections Specialist, Collections Analyst Contract; estimated duration until June 2025 Hybrid; 4 days in office, 1 day from home. (If position were to last longer than 6 months, they would have the potential to transition to 3 days on-site, 2 days remote after 6 months) Company does NOT cover cost of parking for contractors; please note that they will have to incur this expense or work out an arrangement with public transportation to minimize parking costs downtown. Location: Detroit, MI Responsibilities: Manages the accounts receivable balances of the Firms clients, working closely with clients, attorneys and their assistants. Analyzes, researches, resolves and documents client disputes. Analyzes and resolves short payments. Follows up, tracks and reports progress in the resolution of client collection problems. Monitors compliance with client payment expectations, as dictated under terms of retention, alternative arrangements, payment plans, contingent terms and / or custom settlement details. Maintains contact with Billing Attorneys regarding client receivables, offers suggestions and recommendations on how to address aged balances, and conducts timely/appropriate progress tracking on portfolio maintenance concerns. Performs preliminary analyses of data, including analysis of client receivables and billing and payment histories. Identifies accounts of increasing concern and escalates to managers when needed. Generates on-demand reporting suitable for submission to both internal and external parties. Provides support with preparation and processing of alternative fee arrangements, requests for suit, proofs of claim and other collection issues as needed. Demonstrates ability and familiarity with using electronic billing vendor websites. Uses negotiating skills with attorneys and/or clients in order to bring collection issues to a mutually-satisfactory resolution (i.e., settlement arrangements, write-offs, and the like), subject to approval from departmental management. Monitors, suggests and tracks progress on AR write-offs, including preparation of write-off paperwork for attorney and departmental management approval. Periodically assists other Financial Services Departments with time-sensitive projects and requests; as well as other receivables-related duties as requested. Hours : Standard 8 AM 5 PM schedule. Candidates will need to have an attitude for overtime as things get busy during year-end. Experience : Degree not required; team will heavily prefer experience over degree 3+ years of collections experience (for Collections Analyst), 1-2 years of experience for Collections Specialist Law firm experience nice to have, but not required for finance roles Company Details: A premier business law firm, based in Michigan with an international practice. Dress Code : Dress for the day meaning business professional for interviews / important meetings, but on a day to day basis most people will dress business casual. Compensation: $23 26/hr.
