SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

Longwood Gardens is seeking a full-time Senior Accountant to play a key role in maintaining the financial integrity of Longwood by preparing and recording journal entries for assets, liabilities, revenues, and expenses, including accounts payable, with precision and efficiency. Specific responsibilities include: Evaluate accounting data and system reports to accurately prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, expense and investment journal entries. Analyze monthly general ledger account activity for accuracy and resolve discrepancies. Prepare monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts. Perform analytical reviews of vendor invoices for expense allocation and ensure accurate and timely payment. Prepare schedules for annual audits of Longwood's financial statements. Analyze employee expense reports to ensure accuracy of cost allocations and compliance with organization's policies and procedures. Ability to mentor and train other staff on accounting processes. Develop effective positive working relationships with both internal and external partners. The ideal candidate will have: A Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting CPA certification preferred but not required A minimum of 3 years of experience as a staff or senior staff accountant in a public accounting or corporate setting Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Proven attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills Firm understanding of accounting principles demonstrated through experience Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft products The ability to work on-site in Kennett Square, PA Longwood Gardens is committed to nurturing a diverse and inclusive environment that celebrates the complexities and differences of all living things.
