Overview The Market Manager, or Operating Partner, is accountable for the overall leadership of a Fleet Feet market, developing the team and the business across one or more retail locations. Success in this role is achieved by putting people first, driving community engagement, and maximizing sales and profitability through implementing brand initiatives and systems while closely managing operating costs. Successful Market Managers develop and build a positive and inclusive culture in and around the business while contributing to the overall running culture in their community. Responsibilities Attract, recruit, and retain top talent by building a strong workplace culture with a large emphasis and focus on our top priority: our people. Build and maintain store staff through recruiting and selecting qualified associates; orient and train staff on fit, customer engagement, and sales techniques. Build talent pipelines through mentoring, coaching, and developing employees to grow within the Fleet Feet brand. Implement brand initiatives, systems, and best practices at the local market level. Be the leader in customer engagement and education as it relates to proper fit, product usage, and injury treatment and prevention. Work to consistently achieve financial objectives by preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initializing corrective actions. Maintain professional and technical working knowledge through attending educational workshops, both Company-sponsored and non-Company sponsored, review publications, establish and maintain personal networks, and participate in professional societies as it relates to the Company's mission. Work to continuously build a strong customer base by designing and implementing store events and programs; identifying marketing and promotional opportunities. Lead and influence the community by developing relationships with local leaders in business, non-profit, and running organizations, and more. Be an entrepreneur within your market by identifying opportunities that solve customer's problems and create additional revenue within our area of expertise. Facilitate training programs for runners and walkers that create a positive environment within the local community while maintaining profitability. Formulate product strategy in conjunction with the buying department by reviewing merchandising activities, outlining sales promotions, authorizing clearance sales, and studying trends. Maintain an accurate inventory with monthly and annual cycle counts and provide the purchasing team with local insights on inventory assortment. Create or oversee the creation of employee schedules to ensure adequate coverage for store operations based on day-to-day sales volumes. Proactively respond to customer and employee questions and issues in a timely, professional manner. Other duties as required and advised by District Manager or Director, Retail Operations to ensure legal compliance and the continued success of the Fleet Feet brand. Qualifications 3+ years of retail leadership experience required Proven track record of building teams Ability to identify and act on key networking opportunities in order to develop relationships with the local market Demonstrated history of meeting and exceeding sales goals Experience sourcing, training, and retaining sales talent Strong operational skills Enthusiastic, energetic, and personable professional demeanor Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ambitious, hardworking, and team-oriented Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays Open to relocation in the U.S. Perks: Part of a large organization that acts small. Additional Requirements - Hours of work for this position are approximately 40+ hours per week. Position requires moving around for periods of 2-4 hours without a rest break, and task sequencing and the completion of complex administrative responsibilities. Occasional moderate to heavy (10-25+lb) lifting and carrying, bending and reaching overhead may be required. Work environment includes substantial communication with customers, working in a retail environment with product displays and stockroom with inventory, and potentially slippery surfaces. Position is under minimum levels of day-to-day supervision. Some travel may be required for meetings, training or conferences.
