Job Summary West Bend is seeking an experienced contract surety underwriter based out of the Charlotte, NC area, to take over an established territory comprised of the states of North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. Reporting to the Madison, Wisconsin office, this individual will be responsible for managing the territory, growing the contract surety book of business, and supporting company goals by identifying those actions needed to assure premium growth and underwriting profit. Responsibilities & Qualifications Responsibilities will include: Oversee selection of bond risks to ensure accounts are in compliance with company and reinsurance underwriting guidelines. Promote and market the West Bend Surety division throughout assigned territory. Represent the company at agency and industry related functions. Maintain underwriting files with superior understanding of financial statement analysis, both personal and business, and of work in process analysis to assess the acceptability of risk. Develop new business opportunities by capitalizing on a successful track record in the marketing and underwriting of contract surety. Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with agents and contractor clients, through phone calls, in-person visits, and other strategic marketing opportunities.
