Brand Manager Position: Brand Manager Location: CA-Based Location Flexible (Remote w/ Some Travel within California) Status: Exempt; Full-Time Salary Range: $75,000-$85,000 Reports To: Senior Communications Manager About Californians Together Californians Together, a coalition of education, civil rights, parent/caregiver, community, and advocacy organizations, champions the educational success of California's more than 1.1 million English learners. Job description As Brand Manager, you will be responsible for crafting the organization's brand identity across all our marketing channels. This involves owning and developing our brand identity, designing compelling marketing campaigns, and translating dense educational policy work into digestible marketing assets for various audiences. You will be at the forefront of all things brand and the work you'll do will directly impact the way our audience perceive Californians Together. The role requires the ability to manage multiple clients and projects at once and to develop unique creative concepts based on Californians Together brand standards. Experience in traditional and digital mediums is required with expert knowledge in design software. The desired candidate has a passion for educational equity and making statements or telling stories through compelling design. Job highlights Work closely with the Senior Communications Manager to refine the organization's brand vision, voice, and identity across all our marketing channels. Own foundational brand elements, such as brand guidelines/style guide. Work with Californians Together Policy, Initiatives, and Leadership teams and coalition partners to develop creative concepts and produce on-brand, professional print/digital-ready designs. Develop design elements from concept to final execution, balancing competing deadlines. Provide expert opinions and creative options to teams based on project needs. Develop creative elements including but not limited to website assets, email graphics, print collateral, social media graphics, digital ads, sales materials, large format signage, merchandise concepts and final art, logos, brand guidelines/style guide. Maintain knowledge of industry trends and standards as well as continuing education around software, techniques and creative executions. Manage project workflow, multi-tasking and timely deliverables based on required deadlines. Work well cross departmentally and collaborate successfully with a variety of individuals and job functions. Partner with Senior Communications Manager and Communications Associate to drive consistency in brand design and messaging. Key Skills and Qualifications Seeking a candidate with 4+ years of experience in a creative or design role within a team or agency setting. Software Expertise: Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere). Adobe After Effects knowledge is a plus. Experience working with Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Calendar) is required. Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of print, web, and social media design best practices. Project Management: Proven ability to juggle multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and manage internal client expectations. Familiarity with project management tools such as Asana is desired. Design Proficiency: Expertise in file setup, page layout, typography, color theory, and overall design standards and principles. Attributes: Must be organized, detail-oriented, communicative, resourceful, and possess a positive, team-oriented attitude. Additional Experience: Experience with photo and video shoots is a plus, including knowledge of video and still photography. Industry Knowledge: Experience in the education or nonprofit sector is highly valued. Initiative: A results-driven approach and ability to take initiative are key for success in this role. Compensation & Other Benefits The annual salary range for this position is $75,000 - $85,000 and will be commensurate with experience. Physical Demands/Working Conditions This is a full-time, forty-hour per week position, though additional hours and evenings may be necessary to attend events and functions. Work will include long periods of sitting and standing and driving so reliable transportation and a valid driver's license is required. Time will be spent sitting in front of a computer and on the phone. Some lifting up to 15 pounds may be required. Limited physical effort required. The role involves hearing, repetitive hand motions, sitting, talking, and typing.
