What You'll Be Doing: We're seeking a Controller who shares our passion for advancing the future of nutrition and supporting dietitians in building successful businesses. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you'll be a key partner in strategic financial decisions and play a critical role in building our accounting function and team as the first accounting hire. In this role, you'll: Build Out Our Accounting Function: Partner with the Head of Finance to build the function from the ground up, identifying and prioritizing areas of highest risk. This is an opportunity to maximize impact early on. Establish Financial Controls: Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls and guidelines, ensuring compliance with government requirements. Manage Financial Operations: Compensation: Payroll, commissions and bonuses Accounts Payable: Credit card reconciliation, vendor/contractor payments and negotiations, employee spend/reimbursement Account Receivable: Customer and insurance receivables, working capital line of credit Other Financial Cadences: Cash forecasting, taxes, 409a valuation, equity issuances Own Financial Reporting : Establish financial and operational benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. Financial Audits : Lead Fay through financial audits as the company scales. This role is based in San Francisco or New York. You'll Be a Good Fit If: Professional Experience: 6+ years of accounting experience at a top-tier accounting firm and/or fast-growing startups. Technical Skills: Highly analytical and quantitative, with exceptional technical accounting knowledge. CPA preferred. Audit Experience : Played a lead role in an audit on either the firm side or industry side. Systems Experience: Experience with NetSuite and/or Sage Intacct implementation. Experience with Rippling preferred.
