Brief Description A General Assembler performs parts and material installation and assembly tasks per written and verbal work instructions. Job Category: Assembly Location: Porterville, CA Job Type: Full Time, Non-Exempt Reports to (title): Production Supervisor Responsibilities Performs installations and assembles parts according to special written work instructions, routings, blueprints and verbal directives. Cleans, assembles, disassembles and replaces parts as required. Maintains a clean and safe working environment and optimizes space utilization. Communicates and cooperates with supervisors and coworkers. Operates and maintains shop equipment. Follows quality service standards and complies with procedures, rules and regulations. Keeps production supervisor advised of work status, workload, problems and progress as related to work assignments. Performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements Qualifications High school diploma or GED. One year of related experience. Good organizational and time management skills. Reading and basic math skills; ability to understand verbal and written work instructions. Ability to read and understand blueprints. Skilled in use of hand tools, shop tools, equipment and measuring devices. Knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures; machinery and forklift experience are preferred. Manufacturing and/or automotive experience preferred. Willingness to travel if required. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of standing. Required to walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb and crawl. Frequent use of hand tools and materials which may create repetitive hand motion. Regularly lift and move up to 10 lbs.; frequently lift and move up to 30 lbs., and occasionally lift and move up to 50 lbs. Ability to see and adjust visual focus both up-close and at a distance; position requires peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to see and distinguish colors. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, hearing protection, work boots and hardhats. Required to drive and may at times work outdoors. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted. Compensation and Benefits: Compensation for this position will be in the range of $18 TO $20 per hour. Qualified candidates will generally work a 40-hour work week, working four, 10-hour shifts.
