Long-term Substitute School Nurse (Fall 2024), Salem Public Schools SY This is a long-term substitute position to start on September 4, 2024 and end on November 15, 2024. Job Requirements: Current License by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Current Certification in CPR/AED and First Aid Experience in School Nursing, Pediatrics, Community or Public Health a plus Experience with Electronic Charting Embrace team nursing Flexibility Salary: Substitute school nurses are hired as per diem nurses and begin at the per diem pay rate. What You'll Do: The substitute School Nurse may perform, or assist other nurses in performing, the day-to-day operation of the school health office during the school year. Candidates must be flexible, self-directed, innovative thinkers, willing to learn, passionate about improving health services for all learners, and continually looking for ways to improve processes, programs, and outcomes. Role Responsibilities: The general substitute School Nurse's duties are to administer prescription and non-prescription medications according to school policy and in compliance with 105 CMR 210. The substitute school nurse provides first aid. The substitute school nurse will participate in professional development related to school health. They will maintain electronic health records and document the activities of the school health clinic. They will care for ill students and perform other related nursing duties as needed in the school setting.
