LOCATION: Hybrid ORGANIZATION : Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), Media Division POSITION TITLE: Manager of Events, Projects, and Media DURATION: Full Time SALARY : $70,000- $80,000/annually The Organization The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) - the principal trade association for the business-to-business content and media, EdTech and software industries - has an exciting opportunity for a competent and energetic applicant to work in its fast-growing Media Division. The Media Division has a membership comprised of B2B and specialized B2C media companies, in digital, print and events. Were seeking a candidate who will fill a high-visibility role in the Media division that includes working with the managing director on event planning, on-site management and member development among some of the leading business-to-business media companies in the world. Position Description This is a growth-oriented position. The Manager of Events, Projects, and Media will collaborate directly with the divisions Managing Director on all facets of the division, including event planning, awards programs, research, newsletter journalism, member relations, and our three tentpole products, the Jesse H. Neal Awards, the CEO Council, and the Business Information & Media Summit. The immediate focus after onboarding will center on, but not be limited to managing day-to-day logistics of the Neal Awards, BIMS speaker recruitment, and member relations. The Manager of Events, Projects, and Media will report directly to the Managing Director of the Media Division. Responsibilities Work with Managing Director on all aspects of the Media Divisions strategy and operations. The Manager of Events, Projects, and Media will initially focus on the role of point person in overseeing the Neals program schedule, ensuring all deliverables stay on track. He or she will collaborate on marketing messaging, design and event planning. Manage the Neals master program timeline from rollout to the awards event six or seven months later. Take the lead in identifying membership prospects. Work with marketing/membership team on enhancing member communications. Participate with Managing Director on BIMS speaker recruitment. Assist in program development for Neal Awards co-located half-day conference. Attend industry events and represent SIIA Media. Over time, develop relationships with key members and other industry figures. Contribute to SIIA Media Alert as needed or as story ideas present themselves. Partner with the Neals Steering Committee; performing QA/QC on entries; ensuring they are in the correct categories; and resolving issues with IT. Lead Neal Awards judge-recruitment process and oversee matching judges to the appropriate entries. The Manager will be adept at, or quickly learn, the Neals programs software platform, OpenWater. At the conclusion of the Neal Awards event, work with Managing Director and marketing team to incorporate lessons learned from the just-completed program. Manage the generic Neals inbox. Work with IT director to ensure all categories are properly set-up in in the software program and run reports as needed. Oversee interaction with both nominees and judges. Serve as point of contact with our trophy supplier for both the SIIA Media Leadership Awards, which are presented at BIMS, and the Neal Awards. This includes ordering and overseeing shipment of trophies. The Manager of Events, Projects, and Media will also oversee other shipping tasks, such as necessary materials, certificates and judges gifts. Confirm Neals judges backgrounds and qualifications. Produce awards PowerPoint deck for Neals and coordinate writing of the script or actually produce it. Assist in proofreading the script and program book. Be on-site for BIMS, the Neals event, and other events, overseeing logistics in coordination with the event manager. Work with A/V onsite. Act as BIMS liaison between sponsor salesperson and marketing team for fulfilling sponsorship deliverables. About the Jesse H. Neal Awards The Jesse H. Neal Awards are named after Jesse H. Neal, the first managing director of American Business Media (ABM). The program was established in 1955 to recognize and reward editorial excellence in business media. Neals winners have produced masterful profiles, brought attention to major new trends, led industries forward, and exposed corruption and conflicts of interest. Theyve highlighted brilliant leadership, innovative tactics, and key developments in global businesses. Job requirements Bachelors degree or higher. Demonstrated skill and at least two-to-three years of experience in process management, particularly awards programs. Working knowledge of awards-program software platforms, OpenWater preferred but not essential. Working knowledge of scheduling and recruiting speakers for short live events and webinars, and conversant in operating webinar software. Top-notch communications skills. Ability to manage inter-departmental tasks. Team player with a collaborative approach and a focus on solving problems, accomplishing goals, and reveling in team success. Outgoing nature and comfortable in live-event settings, interacting and networking. Preferred but not essential requirements for winning candidate. Some experience in marketing copywriting. Some experience in journalism or business to business media. Some knowledge of the media business (revenue sources, products, etc.) Experience with public speaking or willing to learn. Hybrid/Remote position depending on location. Preferred candidate in the DC metropolitan area or NYC.
