Summary Dunmore is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Safety Intern to support our safety and environmental project initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for students majoring in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Biochemistry, Engineering, Occupational Safety, and Health to gain hands-on experience in the field of workplace safety and environmental compliance. The intern will assist in various tasks related to facility safety inspections, the development of safety standard operating procedures (SOPs), Job Safety Analysis (JSA) creation, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities (describe the major responsibilities that are critical to the role) Assist with routine inspections of facilities to identify potential safety hazards, evaluate risks, and recommend corrective actions. Contribute to the development and refinement of Safety Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliance with workplace safety standards. Assist in creating and updating Job Safety Analyses for various tasks, ensuring they meet industry safety standards and regulatory requirements. Assist in conducting regulatory compliance reviews and ensuring adherence to environmental and safety regulations such as REACH, Proposition 65, RoHS, and PFAS, including research, documentation, and reporting to support compliance programs Assist in maintaining accurate and detailed records of safety inspections, incident reports, and regulatory compliance data. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and environmental compliance personnel, to ensure the integration of safety practices across departments. Participate in team meetings and workshops to gain insights into plant operations and industry best practices. Travel and connect with interns from across the company at the Steel Partners intern summit. Basic understanding of safety principles and regulations. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills. Education and Experience Currently pursuing a degree in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Biochemistry, Engineering, Occupational Safety and Health, or a related field. Knowledge of OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) regulations. Familiarity with environmental compliance standards such as EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) regulations. Previous experience or coursework related to safety inspections, risk assessments, or environmental science is a plus.
