Housekeeper, Lead Minimum Salary US-MA-Worcester Job Location 2 weeks ago(10/13/2024 8:48 AM) Requisition Number # of Openings 1 Posted Date Day Shift Non Exempt Exempt/Non-Exempt Status Union Position-W20-AFSCME Trades and Building Svc Overview GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION: Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor or designee, the Lead Housekeeper supervises and assists in the performance of general janitorial or custodial work in connection with the cleaning of a building, of an assigned area within a building, or a group of buildings. Responsibilities MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Clean all hospital medical school areas such as Patient Rooms, Operating Rooms, Emergency Department, Isolation Rooms, Labs, and offices, etc Assist in preparing work standards for unit of responsibility. Supervise employees engaged in general housekeeping tasks, select and instruct new housekeeping employees, evaluate performance, assign work, supervise other employees of a lower grade Coordinate activities of assigned unit to ensure effective operations/compliance with established standards Confer with management staff and others to plan/review work projects, and to resolve problems and exchange information. Make periodic work site inspections as necessary to ensure efficient utilization of human resources and materials, and compliance with established work standards, policies and procedures. Prepare, or assist in the preparation of statistical records. Requisition/provide materials and equipment to ensure proper service to areas of responsibility and to meet needs of staff to perform the required tasks. Communicate with departmental staff, staff from other departments/areas, and with visitors and patients in proper manner and as required. Perform other duties as required. Train, coach, and assist new and established employees on refining proper procedure and area assignments Exhibits appropriate human relations skills when interacting with patients, visitors, Medical Center employees, coworkers, and supervisors. Has concern for work area, takes initiative to solve problems and is flexible in adapting to various situations, including those of an emergency nature such as floods, fires, major spills, etc. Consistently completes assignments with minimal supervision; is courteous to patients, visitors, etc. Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma, or equivalent experience 3 years of related experience Thorough knowledge of materials, methods, and practices essential to the cleaning of buildings. Considerable knowledge of types, properties, qualities, and uses of cleaning supplies and equipment, as well as their effect on various types of finishes. Ability to train and instruct employees and others in cleaning and building custodial operations. Maintenance of simple records and creation of reports. Ability to follow oral and written instructions to supervise employees effectively. Knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques of supervision. Knowledge of proper care and maintenance of equipment utilized. Knowledge of rules, regulations, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines governing assigned unit activities. Ability to withstand physical strain of performing manual tasks. Ability to travel to off-site locations
