The Top Shelf: The Hockey Strategy & Analytics department is looking for a software engineer intern to focus primarily on the development of the Blackhawks' internal hockey operations information web application. Candidates will be exposed to full-stack application development using technologies such as AWS, Node.js, React, GraphQL, MongoDB, and Snowflake, among others. Successful candidates will also bring strong communication skills, analytical skills, and work ethic. How You'll Contribute: Build data pipelines in Python, moving data from vendor APIs into Snowflake Manage and ensure data integrity in data warehouse and internal web application Create GraphQL APIs on a Node.js server Create new front-end features within existing application, using React, Bootstrap, and GraphQL Support departments within Hockey Operations using a variety of data sets including salary cap, player contracts, and the NHL Collective Bargaining Agreement. Player Stats and Qualifications: Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Advanced Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Software Engineering, or other quantitative field of study Thorough understanding of hockey statistics and rules Baseline understanding of the NHL's Collective Bargaining Agreement and the NHL Salary Cap Demonstrable project experience through coursework, personal projects, or prior internships Proficiency with one or more modern programming languages, preferably Python Experience with relational or NoSQL databases and/or data warehouses Desire to build user applications, either web based or mobile Knowledge of data structures Ability to address, adapt to, and overcome challenges in a fast-paced, dynamic environment Demonstrated aptitude for driving results High attention to detail Demonstrates Chicago Blackhawks core values of integrity, curiosity, empathy, collaboration, and originality The Team: The Chicago Blackhawks started their journey as one of the NHL's "Original Six" professional ice hockey teams in 1926.
