Introduction The Treasurer is a locally elected constitutional officer whose duties are mandated by the Code of Virginia and local ordinances. The Treasurer is elected at-large for a four-year term and provides direct service to all Loudoun residents and businesses. The principal functions of the Treasurer's Office include: billing and collecting taxes for real and personal property, business licenses, and other services as specified by the Code of Virginia and local ordinances; acting as primary depository of revenue for all County agencies, including Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS); investing and safeguarding County funds; reconciling County funds to bank and investment accounts; and providing outstanding customer service to taxpayers, County staff, and LCPS staff. Job Summary At the Loudoun County's Department of the Treasurer, our mission is to serve the citizens of Loudoun County by educating and disseminating information in a courteous and efficient manner. The Department is currently seeking a qualified and hard-working administrative professional to join our Tax Account Administration team in our Sterling location. This position is the lead Tax Administration Assistant and backup to the Division Manager. The incumbent acts as the first point of contact for questions from staff, authorizes the second approval of tax refunds, and performs other tax administration functions within the Tax Account Administration team. Additional duties include: • Conducts in-depth research as backup to tax account refunds. • Prepares and processes corrective payment entries. • Processes personal property, real estate, and business license exonerations and tax adjustment refunds as well as overpayment refunds. • Assists internal and external agencies with tax payment and refund inquiries. • Provides outstanding customer service to taxpayers and other key stakeholders while ensuring compliance with Virginia State Code and Loudoun County Ordinances. The successful candidate will possess outstanding written and verbal communication skills, be highly organized with strong attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent multi-tasking skills and ability to work in a team environment are a must. This position requires proficient skills in Microsoft Office Word and Excel. Hiring salary commensurate with experience. Minimum Qualifications Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma and four (4) years of related work experience. Local government experience and an Associate's Degree in Accounting are highly desirable. Job Contingencies and Special Requirements Successful candidate will undergo a criminal background and credit check. Normal working hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30AM to 5:00PM with mandatory overtime during tax deadlines.
