Primary Responsibilities: POSITION PURPOSE: The Senior Manager of Continuous Improvement - Transportation will play a critical role in shaping our organizational capabilities by designing, implementing, and overseeing initiatives focused on Lean, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies across our transportation and supply chain operations. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, logistics, supply chain, and the companys implementation team, to identify opportunities for improvement, develop strategies, and execute projects that removes waste and drive a continuous improvement culture. Essential Functions: Key Responsibilities: Continuous Improvement Leadership: Lead the development and execution of the transportation continuous improvement strategy, focusing on enhancing operational efficiency, reducing costs, and improving service quality. Identify, prioritize, and manage continuous improvement projects aligned with business objectives and transportation KPIs. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and the implementation team to ensure successful implementation of improvement initiatives. Process Analysis and Optimization: Conduct detailed analyses of transportation processes and systems, identifying inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement. Develop and implement process improvement methodologies, including Lean, Six Sigma, and other best practices, to streamline operations and enhance performance. Standardize processes and systems across transportation operations to ensure consistency and Transportation Systems Optimization: Evaluate and optimize transportation systems, ensuring they meet the companys operational needs and align with continuous improvement goals. Work closely with the companys implementation team to integrate new technologies and systems that enhance transportation operations. Ensure that transportation systems are scalable, adaptable, and support the companys growth and strategic objectives. Project Management: Manage the full lifecycle of continuous improvement projects, from conception through implementation, monitoring, and post-implementation review. Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. Track and report on project progress, providing regular updates to senior leadership. Training and Development: Provide training and mentoring to transportation teams on continuous improvement methodologies, tools, and systems. Lead workshops, Kaizen events, and other forums to engage teams in problem-solving and innovation. Other duties and projects as assigned. Minimum Requirements, Qualifications, Additional Skills, Aptitude: Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or a related field is preferred. Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in continuous improvement, process improvement, or operational excellence within the transportation or logistics industry. Strong knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies; certification in Six Sigma (Black Belt or Green Belt) is highly desirable. Proven track record of leading successful continuous improvement initiatives in a complex, fast-paced environment. Experience with transportation systems and working with implementation teams to integrate new technologies and processes. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights. Strong project management skills, with experience managing large-scale improvement projects from start to finish. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability. Willingness to travel to various distribution center locations by airplane, rail, rental, or personal motor vehicle for about 25%-70% of time.
