We are pleased to announce that one of our partners is looking to add to their accounting team, and they are open to a remote candidate! Must be located in the Eastern/Central time zones. POSITION : Senior Associate, Investment Accounting LOCATION : Remote Responsibilities : Support the investment accounting efforts for portfolio of multifamily properties, which currently consists of approximately 30 properties across the U.S. Candidates for the position should have familiarity with multifamily property accounting and be comfortable managing the financial reporting processes for the growing portfolio in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. This position will serve as liaison to various third-party property management company accounting teams, collaborate with external and internal accounting teams to complete monthly and quarterly financial reporting for our portfolio, and actively participate in ongoing portfolio management tasks. This position will be an integral part of building the organization's Finance & Accounting team as we grow our portfolio. Review and analyze monthly financial packages for each property investment, including workpapers, financial statements, and other supporting documentation; prepare analyses and provide thoughtful questions and comments to the third-party property management accounting teams on the accounting treatment for certain transactions and budget variances. Ensure property accounting practices are consistent across properties and property management companies and are in accordance with GAAP. Communicate effectively and build partnerships with third-party property management company accounting teams, always representing the organization in a professional manner. Track and ensure monthly financial statement packages for each property are complete and received from third-party property management accounting teams timely. Ensure the final financial statements for each property are uploaded into accounting system timely and accurately after month-end. Maintain chart of account mapping for each property management company, providing guidance on the appropriate mapping. Review consolidated portfolio financial statement reports for accuracy, proactively identifying trends and anomalies that need to be investigated. Assist Finance & Accounting team with the preparation of monthly portfolio reporting, including the calculation of key performance indicators and metrics from the property financial statements. Participate in new investment due diligence analyses, system onboarding, and establishment of accounting and reporting guidelines with the third-party property management company's accounting team. Review and provide guidance on quarterly cash flow distribution calculations for each property. Work with Asset Management team on the appropriate classification of operational items in the property financial statements across the portfolio and assist with other portfolio management analyses or projects as needed. Coordinate with Asset Management team on the upload of operational budgets and mid-year reforecasts for each property into accounting system. Maintain responsibility for the accuracy of property accounting data in the accounting system. Lead or contribute to other ad-hoc tasks that support quarterly investor reporting processes. Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance 5 years of relevant accounting experience, including multifamily property accounting Real estate industry experience required Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel Strong analytical skills Detailed and process-oriented Must be a self-starter who takes the initiative to produce high-quality work product Passionate, highly motivated individual who enjoys problem-solving and has a strong work ethic Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask Experience managing tight reporting deadlines in a fast-paced environment Strong verbal and written communication skills
