Vecna Robotics seeks an Assistant Controller to actively manage and execute our accounting functions. The Assistant Controller will directly handle budgeting, payroll, financial reporting, and month-end close processes, producing thorough financial-status reports to enhance operational efficiency and support our growth. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator and skilled financial analyst with experience in manufacturing and Software/Hardware businesses, developing and maintaining a standard inventory cost system, and recognizing recurring revenue contracts. Reporting to the VP of Finance, the Assistant Controller is a full time, salaried role based in Waltham, MA. Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa currently. In this role, the Assistant Controller will: Actively manage and execute the accounting function - including reconciliations, month-end reporting, maintaining proper revenue recognition according to ASC 606, and inventory costing. Implement and maintain financial controls and guidelines. Contribute to short- and long-term operational strategies through hands-on execution. Provide comprehensive financial updates to senior managers by analyzing and reporting data points. Ensure internal safeguards for revenue collections, costs, and organizational budgets are maintained. Collaborate with the VP of Finance to establish financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, and reporting standards on a biweekly, monthly, and annual basis. Develop and enforce internal controls to protect company assets, policies, and workflows. Provide forward-looking cash forecasts on a weekly basis to guide real-time decision-making. Maintain accurate recording and strict control of inventory flows, and account for and report on variances in purchase price. Interact directly with customer and vendor contacts to address financial and operational needs. What we are looking for: Bachelor's degree in accounting, or related field required; master's degree in accounting or CPA qualification preferred 5-7 years of hands-on full-cycle professional accounting experience Experience with monthly close procedures, monthly and quarterly financial reporting Strong understanding of banking processes and financial data analysis Demonstrated hands-on experience with routine accounting processes such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, and cash management. Hands-on experience with accounting software (i.e. QuickBooks, NetSuite, Stampli, , Brex) and managing new system implementations, along with advanced experience with Microsoft Excel Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, including ASC 606 and ASC 842, experience researching technical GAAP issues Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills Ability to adapt to various business environments, and communicate effectively at all levels within the organization Ability to effectively plan and prioritize; demonstrated ability to organize information, pay close attention to detail, and commit to deadlines Industry experience in small-mid-sized companies or start-ups within the technology, SaaS, and manufacturing industries highly preferred We are an equal opportunity employer.
