About This Role: USALLIANCE Federal Credit Union is seeking a Real Estate Lending Underwriting Manager to spearhead our underwriting team and elevate our real estate lending operations. This pivotal role focuses on advanced underwriting expertise and the strategic development of team members, ensuring both high-quality underwriting standards and robust professional growth within the department. The candidate should have a passion for the mortgage industry, attention to detail, and excellent leadership skills. Key Responsibilities: Advanced Underwriting Expertise: Lead the underwriting team with a deep, practical understanding of complex mortgage loan applications and risk assessment. Provide expert guidance on evaluating creditworthiness, income verification, asset management, and property valuation. Build upon current underwriting processes and procedures to ensure adherence to guidelines while maintaining excellent member service. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations, GSE guidance, emerging trends, and best practices to ensure compliance and competitive edge. Leadership & Team Development: Inspire, mentor, and develop underwriting team members, fostering an environment of continuous learning and professional growth. Conduct regular performance evaluations, providing constructive feedback and identifying opportunities for advancement and skill enhancement. Design and implement training programs to keep the team updated on underwriting procedures, regulatory changes, and new technologies. Operational Excellence: Oversee daily underwriting operations, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and adherence to internal policies and regulatory requirements. Review and approve complex underwriting decisions, ensuring consistency and high standards in risk management. Coordinate process and technological enhancements in collaboration with internal stakeholders to streamline loan origination functions and maintain loan quality. Address and resolve underwriting issues, providing clear, actionable solutions and maintaining a high level of member service quality. Identify and cultivate new opportunities, building and enhancing relationships with members, brokers, and realtors. Work closely with loan officers, processors, and other departments to ensure smooth and efficient loan processing. Communicate underwriting decisions and rationale effectively to internal stakeholders and members, ensuring transparency and understanding. Who You Are: 7+ years mortgage loan experience with a minimum of 5 years underwriting experience. Thorough knowledge of reviewing residential appraisals, calculating income and reviewing asset statements. Understanding of mortgage loan underwriting functions utilizing the Ellie Mae Encompass platform. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to call, connect, and interact with existing and potential business partners. Lead employees to meet the organization's expectations for productivity, quality, continuous improvement, and goal accomplishment. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. PC Skills, including loan software, Outlook and Microsoft Office. Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines. Possesses an energetic, outgoing and friendly demeanor. In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base hourly range for this position is $95,000 - $108,000, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential incentives. This position is also eligible for an annual corporate bonus. If you are hired at USALLIANCE Federal Credit Union, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider the internal equity of our current team members as a part is any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical to allow for future and continued salary growth. We also offer a generous compensation and benefits package. All positions must adhere to standard BSA/AML policies, procedures, and processes. Employees must demonstrate awareness of business functions and how business decisions affect financial and/or non-financial work results.
