Leading nationwide engineering/construction firm seeks a dedicated and experienced Controller to join their team and play a critical role in financial management and strategy of their Maryland division. Position Summary: The Controller will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as the development of internal control policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in the construction industry, a strong understanding of construction accounting, and the ability to lead a finance team. Key Responsibilities: Oversee the preparation and consolidation of financial statements and reports in compliance with GAAP. Manage all aspects of the general ledger, job costing, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes. Monitor and manage cash flow, ensuring the company's financial stability. Develop and enforce financial policies, procedures, and internal controls. Manage accounting staff, including Accounting Manager, Project Accountant, and AP/AR specialists. Provide financial insights and strategic recommendations to the executive team. Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors, and prepare necessary documentation. Stay up-to-date with industry regulations, accounting standards, and best practices. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or MBA preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Controller, preferably within the construction industry. Strong knowledge of construction accounting and cost accounting, including WIP and PoC revenue recognition. Strong proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables, V-lookups, X-lookups, etc. Excellent leadership skills. Ample management experience. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
