Position Summary: Manage day-to-day operations of the Accounting Department including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis. Ensure compliance with accounting standards (GAAP) and relevant financial regulations. Prepare financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, annual budgets, or specialized reports for construction project teams. Ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and financial statements. Manage cash flow, credit lines, and working capital to optimize the company's financial health. Lead and coordinate audits, tax preparation, and regulatory compliance with internal and external stakeholders. Develop and monitor internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial information. Provide direction and assistance to other organizational units regarding accounting and budgeting policies and procedures and efficient control and utilization of financial resources. Advise management on short-term and long-term financial objectives, policies, and actions. Monitor financial activities and details, such as cash flow and reserve levels, to ensure that all legal and regulatory requirements are met. Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making by senior leadership. Manage and mentor the finance and accounting team, fostering professional growth and process improvements. Collaborate with project managers and site supervisors to ensure accurate cost tracking and allocation of labor, materials, and subcontractor expenses. Provide real-time financial reports on project profitability, performance, and cash flow to stakeholders. Liaise with external vendors and subcontractors to verify costs and ensure accurate billing and payment. Assist CFO with IT oversight including management of service provider, credentials setup, and ensure that technology investments align with company objectives and budgetary constraints. The following skills are necessary: 8+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a controller or similar role. Experience managing financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes. Knowledge of accounting software required (Sage experience a plus). Excellent organizational and communication skills. Excellent decision making/problem solving skills. A high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Self-starter, strong work ethic, sense of urgency, and resourceful. Understanding of job costing for commercial construction projects a plus. Education or Equivalent Experience: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 8 + years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a controller or similar role. Primary Location: Columbus, Ohio Reporting Structure: This position reports directly to the CFO.
