Akima Systems Engineering (ASE) is seeking a dedicated and skilled Journeyman Technical Specialist to scan and document a suite of DoD applications and work directly with software developers to create project documentation. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in cybersecurity, network architectures, and system administration. This role requires a proactive individual who can assist in identifying and mitigating security incidents while effectively communicating technical information to team members. To join our team of outstanding professionals, apply today! Responsibilities Assists in the implementation and maintenance of cybersecurity measures to protect organizational data and infrastructure. Participates in incident response procedures, helping to identify, analyze, and mitigate security incidents. Utilize a basic understanding of computer networks and network architectures to support and troubleshoot network-related issues. Performs system administration tasks across common operating systems such as Windows and Linux. Conducts dynamic scans using tools like Fortify Static Code Analyzer and Web-Inspect, interpreting results to improve security posture. Implements and manages authentication and access control mechanisms to ensure secure access to systems and data. Effectively communicates cybersecurity-related information to team members and leadership, both in writing and verbally. Applies strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address and resolve cybersecurity issues as they arise. Identities and recommends areas of improvement for Cyber Security enhancements as well as enhancements to the execution of all application tasks. Qualifications Secret Clearance. Associate's degree with 4+ year experience in related field. Requires Security Plus/Network+ certification and Operating System Certification. Familiarity with the fundamental concepts of Cybersecurity, including authentication and access controls. Familiarity with common operating systems like Windows, Linus. Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey cybersecurity related information to team members. Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities to identify and address cybersecurity issues. Experience with dynamic scans such as Fortify Static Code Analyzer and Web-Inspect. Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret Clearance. Desired Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree or higher with minimum 2 years of experience in training or technical experience. TS Clearance with SCI Eligibility Additional relevant certifications or coursework in cybersecurity or related field. Previous experience in a technical specialist or similar role. Knowledge of advanced cybersecurity tools and techniques.
