Operations Manager Job Description Job Summary: The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the manufacturing floor, ensuring efficient and effective production processes, maintaining high quality and safety standards, and managing operational staff. Key Responsibilities: Operational Management: Supervise daily production and manufacturing, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures. Develop and implement strategies for efficient use of materials, labor, and equipment to meet production targets. Monitor and adjust production schedules as needed to meet deadlines and optimize workflow. Labor Relations: Maintain a positive working relationship with union representatives and ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements. Participate in union negotiations and discussions as required. Quality and Safety: Ensure that all products meet established quality standards and specifications. Implement and enforce health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment. Team Leadership: Lead, coach, and develop operational staff to meet performance goals and encourage continuous improvement. Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to employees. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and ongoing improvement. Financial Management: Monitor expenses and identify opportunities for cost savings. Report on key operational and financial metrics to local senior management. Implement strategies to enhance efficiency and profitability. Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives aimed at process improvement and productivity enhancement. Apply lean manufacturing principles and other methodologies to drive operational optimization. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field. 7-10 years of experience in an operations or manufacturing environment, with at least 5 years in a management role. Experience in a unionized environment. Strong knowledge of operational processes, quality control, and safety standards. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in operations software and Microsoft Office Suite. Skills: Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities. Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills. Effective project management and organizational skills. Analytical mindset with the ability to make data-driven decisions. High level of integrity and professionalism. Working Conditions: The Operations Manager will work in a production facility, which may involve exposure to noise, heat, and other conditions typical of a manufacturing environment. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
