Position Summary Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting and Revenue Associate Director will direct the work of both the Accounting and Revenue & Settlement teams. The position requires frequent interaction with senior finance management, the ability to problem-solve and grasp issues quickly, a strong financial and analytical background, a strategic mindset and the ability to work independently. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are required. Primary responsibilities include overseeing the monthly accounting close, account reconciliations, account analysis, preparation and review of various deliverables, completing quarterly compliance, ensuring customer settlements occurs timely and other functions as assigned. This role will require familiarity with a variety of accounting concepts, practices and procedures for accuracy of the accounting records. This role will have focused attention to develop team members through training and coaching to help individuals accomplish assigned tasks and meet their career goals and objectives. An immediate focus for this role is to functionalize the routine work, optimize processes, and establishing an effective control environment. The ideal candidate will have a focused attention to accuracy, be detailed oriented, high competency in accounting principles and be a people oriented. Responsibilities Direct the daily operations of the accounting and revenue departments Provide oversight for the monthly close process including the review of journal entries, month and year to date variance analysis, and internal management reports and account reconciliations Monitoring and analyzing the accounting data for preparation of financial reports and statements Ensure organizational design optimizes efficiency and creates clear accountability for key work functions to designated employees. Also ensure staff meets the defined compliance and control measures establishes. Assign accountability to key staff to develop plans to ensure all key work functions are appropriately Integrate systems, processes and reporting to provide an accurate financial picture with tight adherence to financial standards. Direct the monthly customer invoices processes including engagement with the various Independent System Operators (ISO) and/or Regional Transmission Organizations (RTO) Serve as the owner for key financial statement close and revenue processes and ensure compliance with internal controls, regulatory and legal compliance Work with the Technical Accounting team to ensure proper accounting treatment has been determine and applied Partner with internal stakeholders (i.e. operations, development, legal, tax, and other finance teams) on various data requests as well as onboard new projects As required, work with partners, lenders, external auditors, vendors and consultants Cultivate an effective environment through open and effective communications, mutual trust and respect, professionalism, embracing diversity & inclusion, a commitment to excellence, personal accountability, integrity, flexibility and an encouraging positive attitude Maintain a governance structure within the departments to ensure appropriate decision making, collaboration with business partners and reviews are consistent across the teams Complete ad hoc requests for internal and external parties or special projects, as assigned Required/Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree with major in accounting, finance or other closely related discipline In addition to required degree, five (5) years or more of related work experience Possesses and applies fundamental accounting and finance concepts, practices, and procedures Desired Qualifications Certified Public Accountant Advanced degree in accounting, finance or other closely related discipline In addition to required degree, 10 years or more of related work experience Experience with managing a team of 10 or more professionals Experience with renewables industry including tax equity transactions Strong technical skills and working knowledge of U.S. GAAP Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to manage multiple projects running concurrently Proven problem solving and analytical skills Ability to work independently as well as part of a team and be flexible with assignment changes as needed Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills Public accounting experience (Big Four / large regional) Experience with company consolidation and limited liability company / partnership accounting Experience and confidence interacting with senior management, parent company management, external auditors and external parties Demonstrated ability to serve as a subject matter expert, recommending best practices based on expertise and institutional knowledge, communicating complex concepts to management, and Experience using Microsoft products such as Excel, Word, Power Point and PowerBI Experience with PowerOptix, Commodity XL (CXL) and/or other commercial trading/invoicing system Working Conditions: Office position (hybrid) located in Charlotte, NC Benefits: Health Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance 401(k) with matching Employee assistance program Flexible spending account Life insurance Paid time off Parental leave Attractive Bonus Potential Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.
