The Assistant Comptroller will work closely with The Comptroller to ensure compliance with internal controls, coordinate audit, oversee system administration of finance platforms and supervise the accounting team. We are seeking an individual with a strong understanding of accounting principles, supervisory experience and reporting to fill our Assistant Comptroller position. This is a full-time, exempt position, with a hybrid schedule, requiring some in person meetings in the Stoneham MA office. Essential Functions: Direct supervision of accountants, accounts payable and accounts receivable including performance evaluations, training, and hiring. Review and ensure compliance with all internal controls, ensure procedures are well-documented and suggest updates to best practices and policy revisions as needed. Responsible to maintain financial electronic records ensuring the overall integrity and accessibility in accordance with legal, regulatory and agency policies for record retention and destruction procedures. Assist with annual audits by collaborating with Comptroller and liaising with external auditors to ensure smooth audit processes. Assume responsibility of system administration and support of Great Plains and SAP Concur, including report writing and modifications, partnering with IT and other relevant teams to ensure system efficiency and resolution of issues. Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger Perform all tasks related to accounting and audit for the parent company, NAFI, including preparing financial statements, intercompany allocations, reconciling balance sheet general ledger accounts and consolidation reporting. Support in the preparation and review of subsidiary financial statements, reports, monthly balance sheet general ledger reconciliations and other documentation. Help ensure timely and accurate processing of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month-end and year- end general ledger closing processes. Oversee and execute lease accounting standards. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements and system upgrades. Participate in a wide variety of projects or tasks as assigned and assist Comptroller with ad hoc requests Qualifications: Bachelors degree in accounting, finance or related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management or accounting, preferably in a non-profit human service environment. At least 2 years of supervisory experience. Experience with financial software, preferably Great Plains. Experience in report writing in Business Intelligence and Management Reporter preferred.
