Job Summary The primary function is the production of an underwriting profit for through the effective development and maintenance of quality business consistent with the company business plan within specific grant of authority. The position if responsible for writing new business and retaining renewal business in accordance with the Safety Insurance underwriting practices. The underwriting territory consists of all states in which Safety Insurance is licensed for all lines of Commercial business. The ability to travel is mandatory. Duties Build and manage internal and external relationships. Select profitable risks based upon individual account criteria and underwriting standards. Develop new business and retain existing accounts. Demonstrates skill in risk analysis, negotiation, and pricing for commercial lines business. Ability to analyze variables such as coverage, loss control, credit reports and loss experience. Works closely with our Territory Marketing Managers to ensure consistent messaging to our agents. Travel within the New England Territory. Prepare agenda and team meeting documentation for agency business meetings. Provides timely, courteous, and efficient service to Agents. Performs other duties as required. Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience. 2 + years of commercial underwriting experience in a property and casualty environment preferred. Excellent relationship building, communication, customer service and organizational skills are essential. Attention to detail. Ability to multitask. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Word.
