Job Type: Officer of Administration Bargaining Unit: Regular/Temporary: Regular End Date if Temporary: Hours Per Week: 35 Standard Work Schedule: Building: Salary Range: $125,000 - $140,000 The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Position Summary The Department of Pediatrics at Columbia University Medical Center is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant for a full-time position in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PCICU) at Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital of New York-Presbyterian. He/She will join a group of dedicated front-line providers who will provide 24/7 coverage of the PICU/PCICU. The Physician Assistant will provide services under the supervision of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine fellows and attendings. The individual will perform a variety of functions and technical procedures necessary for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up and outcome evaluation of patients in the ICU. The individual will also participate in performance improvement, research and educational activities. Responsibilities Obtain patient's history, perform physical examinations, and develop care plans for patients. Order appropriate laboratory, radiographic and cardiac studies, review results and other clinical information pertinent to patient health as part of the care plan of patients in the ICU. Assist in the management of medical emergencies. Render appropriate care in the presence of a life-threatening emergency when a physician is unavailable and document all care rendered in accordance with policies and procedures. Assist the attending physician or fellow on any procedure falling within the Physician Assistant's scope of practice. Initiate subspecialty consultations or evaluations. Counsel and instruct patients and their families. Communicate the transition care of patients from the ICU to step-down and/or floor. Ensure all medical records and notes are countersigned by the attending physician. Conforms to all applicable HIPAA, billing compliance and safety guidelines. Performs related duties & responsibilities as assigned/requested. Minimum Qualifications Requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and years of experience from an accredited Physician Assistant program plus four years' related experience. Other Requirements Current NYS professional license, board certification by NCCPA. DEA License. BCLS and ACLS and PALS certification. Able to meet New York-Presbyterian Hospital credentialing requirements. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program strongly preferred.
