In this role, you will be directly responsible for day-to-day accounting operations, providing your subject matter expertise and thought leadership as Commonwealth continues to grow and expand. Responsibilities include leading the Accounting team, maintaining the general ledger, and overseeing revenue recognition, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll processing, and financial and accounting internal controls. The controller maintains relationships with other internal leadership team members, banking partners, independent accountants, and various support vendors. You will have key interactions with all levels and types of employees, executives, and related business communities. Key Responsibilities Closing the monthly books accurately and on time; providing appropriate and actionable management reporting Preparing and submitting regulatory filings and audited financials Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement, and implementing new processes Working closely with the Operations and Compliance teams and the business to address any resulting action from financial and regulatory reporting Collaborating with the Chief Accounting Officer to oversee and manage annual audits by external auditors Oversee the accounts payables team and disbursement process to ensure effective expenses and capital management. Partnering with the Financial Planning and Analysis team to monitor annual business plans and quarterly forecasts Identifying and remediating process gaps, and implementing operational accounting efficiencies and financial controls Driving thought leadership and change management in a growing organization Recruiting, training, and retaining a skilled accounting staff to build out key functions Assisting in completing special projects as needed Core Strengths and Skills CPA/public accounting experience preferred Knowledgeable in GAAP accounting and finance 7+ years of related work experience Prior experience leading an accounting/finance team Ability to manage complex financial, reporting, and regulatory matters or processes Experience developing, establishing, and operating financial policies and procedures Manages others well and with respect; balances corporate priorities with individual abilities Have we piqued your curiosity?
