Job Details Job Location National Center on Institutions and Alternatives Inc - Baltimore, MD Position Type Full Time Job Shift Evening Description Job Title: Janitorial Crew Supervisor Department: Business Services Reports To: Contract Supervisor and/or Total Facilities Maintenance Supervisor FLSA Status: Non-Exempt General Purpose of the Job: The Janitorial Crew Supervisor, sometimes referred to as the "Lead", provides support, oversight, and supervision to the janitorial crew at locations specified in the contract. The Janitorial Crew Supervisor works alongside janitorial staff and Job Coaches while providing on-site supervision. The Janitorial Crew Supervisor ensures that the crew stays on task and that the building is clean and well-maintained. *Responsibilities may vary depending on worksite. Essential JANITORIAL Duties and Responsibilities: Ensure cleaning of the site is accomplished, performing quality cleaning services. Thoroughly cleans and disinfects restrooms. Cleans and disinfects countertops, sinks, toilets, and urinals. Cleans and disinfect door latches, walls, and bathroom stall partitions. Ensures toilet paper dispensers are refilled as needed. Sweeps and mops floors. Cleans and disinfects hand dryers. Cleans and disinfects baby changing stations. Refills soap dispensers as needed. Cleans all mirrors and glass surfaces. Ensures all light fixtures are clean and all lights are operational. Replaces lightbulbs as needed. Ensures bathrooms do not have any noticeable odors. Ensures all family restrooms are clean and functional. Cleans utility areas of buildings. Cleans and disinfects all water fountains. Cleans foyer areas. Cleans and disinfects doors, handles, and commonly touched areas. Ensures walls are clean and painted surfaces are in good condition where applicable. Ensures all signs are clean and functional. Empties trash receptacles, and ensures they are clean, functional, and equipped with plastic liner bags. Clears exterior premises of all trash and debris including sidewalk, curb, gutter, and parking lot. Ensures picnic slabs, tables, and shelters are clean, well-maintained, and functional Cleans vending machines areas. Ensures supplies and equipment are stored and locked up in appropriate rooms and/or closets. Ensures adequate supplies are available. Completes other duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY/SUPPORT DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides supervision to janitorial staff working at an assigned site. Ensures the safety of work/activity areas and equipment, confirms the appropriateness of assignments, gathers equipment and supplies prior to the arrival of the work crew, and replenishes supplies throughout the work day, as needed. Records daily attendance of janitorial staff. Completes and collects required daily paperwork as specified in the contract. Ensures daily janitorial task checklists are completed. Ensures appropriate written reports and records are completed, including supported employee attendance, 1:1 shift progress notes, goal work, and supported employee behavioral data. Maintains assigned records, data collection, and behavioral logs accurately and within required timelines, including completing documentation of incidents according to the DDA Policy on Reportable Incidents and Investigations. Inspects the location to ensure that janitorial staff clean and disinfect areas properly. Conducts inspections with the contracting agency as required. May require providing transportation to and from the site. May fill in as the site Job Coach as necessary. Ensures Job Coaches supply 1:1 supervision as detailed in the Person-Centered Plan, Behavior Plan, Nursing Plan of Care, and person-specific training. Responds to crisis situations expediently and provides the appropriate input and support needed to resolve the situation. Exhibits ability and willingness to perform and assist with functions of daily living, including feeding, toileting, and personal hygiene functions. Ensures that vans have current documentation such as registration, insurance cards, and accident forms and obtains the missing forms before a staff operates the vehicle. Completes incident reports as required. Exhibits ability and willingness to utilize approved behavior management techniques, including physical intervention when required. Maintains communication with supervisors and managers to ensure that all necessary administrative follow-up and support services are provided. Ensures accurate documentation on a daily basis of all data on transportation logs: mileage, destination, passengers, completion of Vehicle Inspection Forms, etc. Obeys all laws concerning operating a vehicle in the State of Maryland, including cell phone usage. Must have at all times in their possession a working personal cell phone for company business. Observes all safety rules and policies, and guards against accidental injury to staff. Exhibits flexibility and enthusiasm in performing assigned duties. Attends and participates/completes all in-service trainings as scheduled. Other duties as assigned. SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: Cleans internal and external windows twice a year. Qualifications SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Yes: Job Coaches and Janitorial Crew Members. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) At least one year experience working in a janitorial or custodial capacity. Supervisory experience preferred. Successfully completes all trainings required by the Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA), including CPR/First Aid and MANDT. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must have a state-issued driver's license and an acceptable driving record as determined by criteria established by the Agency's insurance carrier and Agency policy Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Other Qualifications : Must be at least 21 years of age. Physical Demands: Walking significant distances. Running occasionally. Standing for a significant amount of time, up to two hours occasionally. Lifting or pushing 50 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds frequently. Frequent reaching, stooping, grasping, balancing, kneeling, and crouching. Ability to stay awake and attentive throughout the entire shift. Operating machines, motor vehicles, and job-specific equipment and tools. Sufficient visual acuity to observe general surroundings and activities of supported employees. Sufficient hearing ability to accurately perceive information at normally spoken word levels. Safely work in situations of exposure to blood-borne pathogens which may require specialized protective equipment provided by the agency. Work Environment: Both indoor and outdoor environments, with potential exposure to weather elements, such as rain, wind, or snow. Exposure to moderate to high volumes of noise including loud voices, office equipment, and cleaning devices such as vacuum cleaners and buffing machines. Work environments may include video and/or audio monitoring.
