Key Responsibilities of the On-Site Construction CFO in Mineola, NY: Financial Strategy & Planning: Develop and implement financial strategies that align with the company's business goals and growth plans. Provide leadership in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting to support decision-making. Work closely with the CEO and executive team to identify opportunities for business expansion, including new market entry, partnerships, and joint ventures. Oversee capital structure and financial risk management, ensuring the company has adequate capital for growth initiatives. Accounting & Financial Management: Manage the accounting, finance, and payroll functions to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and government accounting standards. Ensure compliance with all federal and state financial regulations, including FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulations) and government audit requirements. Prepare and present financial statements, cost reports, and internal controls. Ensure adherence to contractual requirements for public projects, including audits, cost allocations, and reporting. Contract & Regulatory Compliance: Work with project management and legal teams to ensure financial aspects of contracts are met and all billing/invoicing is accurate and timely. Ensure compliance with federal and state procurement laws, contract requirements, and other relevant public sector regulations. Manage relationships with bonding agencies, banks, and sureties to ensure bonding capacity and other financial guarantees are in place for public and federal projects. Treasury & Cash Flow Management: Oversee treasury management, including cash flow forecasting, working capital management, and banking relationships. Ensure liquidity by managing cash, debt, and capital investments to optimize the firm's financial position. Negotiate favorable terms with financial institutions, bonding agencies, and insurance companies to support the firm's growth. Risk Management: Assess and manage financial risks, including insurance coverage, surety bonds, and other financial instruments required for federal and public contracts. Lead the company's risk management strategies to safeguard assets and ensure financial stability. Leadership & Team Development: Build, mentor, and lead the finance and accounting team, ensuring high performance and career development. Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the finance function by implementing new processes, technologies, and best practices as the firm grows. Stakeholder Relations: Serve as a key liaison between the firm and external financial stakeholders, including banks, auditors, government agencies, and investors. Present financial performance and strategy to the board of directors and key external stakeholders. Required Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is required. Must be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in finance leadership role/s, within construction management, engineering , or a related industry. Proven experience working with public and federal contracts, including understanding of FAR, DFARS, and other relevant regulations. Experience working in a growing company, ideally transitioning from small to mid-size. Strong knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting, and government contract accounting standards. Skills and Competencies: Strong financial planning, forecasting, and analytical skills. Expertise in construction industry financial management, including project costing, revenue recognition, and WIP (Work in Progress) reporting. Experience managing relationships with bonding and insurance providers. High-level proficiency with financial software and ERP systems (e.g. Deltek~Ajera). Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills. Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders. Deep understanding of compliance and risk management, especially in public and federal contract environments. Annual Salary : $125K-$175K (Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, education and location.)
