Location: McLean, Baltimore, Washington Junior Risk Analyst - VA/DC/MD The Audit Risk Analytics (ARA) team is an internal analytics and innovation team within the Professional Practice Audit (PPAu) Team of Ernst & Young that supports the Americas Assurance practice in enhancing audit quality and effectively executing certain Firm quality controls. ARA's mission is to provide data driven insights to inform strategic decision making through: (1) the identification and assessment of current and emerging risks to audit quality, (2) strategic partnerships across EY internal groups to assist our teams to deliver quality audits and (3) collaborating with stakeholders to support key firm initiatives. The opportunity As a Risk Analyst, you will help drive the use of analytics to support the strategic priorities and goals of the PPAu Group. You will work with all members of the team but will mainly support Insights from Research and Analysis and Product Development. This role will support the ARA team by providing a broad range of data analyses (ranging from descriptive analytics, data visualization, through advanced modeling as well as product development activities). The role may work independently to deliver simple to moderately complex projects or as a member of the larger team to work on portions of more complex projects. This role will also support the design of customized approaches to analytics and analytical tools, and report results of analyses to ARA leadership and key stakeholders. Essential Functions and Job Work in SAS (or R), Python, Excel, PowerBI and SQL to satisfy ARA team projects and initiatives Gain an understanding of the team's processes (insights from research and analysis / product development) and make recommendations for improvements accordingly Work with the ARA team to conduct analyses related to the assessment of client risks and audit execution risks. Scope includes data preparation, data profiling, data analysis, documentation, performing quality control procedures and visualization. Support the design of analytical efforts using complex methods in the areas of audit risk, staffing needs for engagements, project management and executive supervision, and other areas as a member of the team. Support the development of leading practices for all phases of the analytics development cycle. Communicate progress, barriers, risks, benefits and recommendations to team members and as a team member to clients, to achieve project success. Gain a broad understanding of business fundamentals and of the organization, both globally and in the Americas. The position assists in mining, analyzing and visualizing data to identify risks. The results of the analysis are used to support the audit practice on various initiatives related to client and audit team risk profiling, monitoring the execution of audit engagements, improving audit quality and reducing risk To qualify for the role, you must have Master's Degree in Statistics, Business Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience) Working knowledge of Python or SAS/R for use in analytics Advanced in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) 1-3 years of related experience Comfortable in a rapidly changing environment, with competing and shifting priorities Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) and adaptable to different audiences Ability to partner/liaise/collaborate efficiently within the ARA team and with other departments/stakeholder and communicate issues timely and clearly. Ideally, you'll also have Working knowledge of SQL PowerBI (preferred), VBA Strong education and empirical research backgrounds, Some experience with data mining and analytics preferred. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $75,500 to $137,000. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $90,600 to $155,700. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography.
