TITLE: Software EngineerDUTIES: Implementation research and work management tool usage. Able to take medium-complexity tickets from the JIRA queue, ask questions synchronously (over Zoom or in person) or asynchronously (over JIRA or Slack) and navigate existing written resources (JIRA, git, Confluence) to answer them. Development and software design duties. Ultimately publish changes to the code through git and GitHub. Plan and develop medium to large-sized projects, seeing them through from scope to release Collaborate with and learn from team members about best practices and core concepts and own our core values and adhere to them in your work. Developing expertise in making code review smooth. Defensively describes design decisions and actively looks to improve existing code. Understands what kind of testing different changes require (e.g. automated versus manual testing or unit versus integration testing). Understands the release cycle and how code is promoted from one environment to the next. Code contribution is done using compiled programming languages (Java, golang) as well as scripting languages (python, bash) used primarily for environment setup and testing. Work closely with product and design teams, considering the user's perspective to deliver quality software. Support our Cloud-deployed production and non-production environments through responding to incidents and proactively heading off incidents using our Observability tooling (Splunk, Grafana, etc). Additionally, provide support for customer-facing issues through triaging, diagnosing (using observability tooling) and responding to incoming tickets from customer-facing teams.Requirements: Bachelor's degree or foreign degree equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field and one (1) year of experience in the job offered or related role.Skills: Experience and/or education must include:1.Programming and development using IntelliJ Ultimate;2.Project management experience in JIRA (Atlassian);3.Experience navigating and writing documentation in Confluence (Atlassian) and Google Workspace;4.Knowledge of how to use git for software version control;5.Understanding of build systems and testing configurations using Evergreen (internal CI);6.Familiarity building applications on top of MongoDB;7.Experience navigating and using tooling for *NIX based Operating Systems using Bash/Zsh; and8.Production Observability tool experience, specifically including Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, Alert Manager.OTHER: Job Site: 1633 Broadway, 38th Floor, New York, NY 10019; 40 hours/week; $185,000/year - $190,000/year.
