Wausau Window and Wall Systems Position Summary As the Senior Manager of Purchasing, you will oversee the transactional buying of goods and services for the Architectural Framing Systems (AFS) procurement organization within Apogee Enterprises, Inc. You and your team will be responsible for driving efficiencies and automation to streamline how the organization orders, receives, and pays for goods and services. In this role, you will ensure that procurement practices are aligned with the business goals, industry standards, and best practices and lead significant transformation through the development of a Center of Excellence. This role will report directly to the Sr. Director of AFS Procurement. The Sr Manager will be responsible for the ownership, management, steady improvement, and consistent adoption/usage of purchasing practices across the AFS procurement team. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement purchasing strategies and policies to achieve organizational goals and objectives. Manage and supervise the purchasing team, including hiring, training, evaluating, and mentoring staff. Improve supplier lead time, delivery, and quality to enhance the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the purchasing process and maintain supply chain continuity. Monitor and analyze market trends, price fluctuations, supply and demand, and supplier performance. Establish and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, such as operations leaders, project managers, and suppliers. Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards, organizational policies and procedures, and industry best practices. Develop, track and manage key performance metrics to measure purchasing activities and performance. Deliver improved performance and functional transformation by fostering a Center of Excellence that executes best-in-class buying activities. Optimize intercompany transactions and increase use of automation across the req to pay process. Collaborate closely with procurement teams, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to effectively meet the needs of the business and deliver key results. Leverage technology to increase transactional efficiencies and enhance business processes. Education and Skills Required Education Bachelor's Degree in supply chain or business-related field (Master's Degree Preferred) CPM and/or APICS certification a plus Experience 7+ Years of Purchasing/Procurement Leadership Experience 5+ years management experience Additional Qualifications Experience leading industry best practice purchasing / procurement teams. Experience implementing significant improvements or establishing procurement industry best practices across functional areas. Strategic thought leader backed by an added focus on the tactical buying aspects. Strong background in procurement technologies, including Source to Pay and third-party performance and risk management. Leadership and governance of procurement processes and project teams Ability to recognize and adjust to change and learn quickly, thoroughly, and in detail. Strong MRP and ERP technology background in support of the Source to Pay process. Proven successful track record in leadership roles. Strong communication and leadership skills dealing with cross-functional teams. People management & development Ability to create a disciplined process.
