Organization Summary The Conservation Corps of Long Beach (CCLB) is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that has helped at-risk young adults develop themselves since 1987. To date, more than 10,000 young people have participated in CCLB classes and service projects, learning new skills while contributing to the quality of life for residents of the greater Long Beach area. Mission The primary mission of the Conservation Corps of Long Beach is to develop at-risk youth to reach their full potential through work, service, conservation, and education. Position Summary Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the Project Coordinator will be responsible for the direct supervision of the CCLB Sustainability Department, overseeing the planning, coordination, and business development of conservation projects. These projects include but are not limited to: recycling, community beautification, greening, and grant management. This position requires strong interpersonal skills to foster customer satisfaction and a proven ability to acquire new business accounts, ensuring the continued growth of the department. Essential Responsibilities Coordination Plan, develop, bid, and evaluate recycling projects, natural lands management, community greening, and beautification projects in collaboration with public, non-profit, government agencies, and private sector companies. Assist in writing grant applications for the Conservation Department, particularly those related to Cal Recycle grants and other relevant funding opportunities. Provide regular supervision, training, and mentoring to Crew Supervisors to ensure efficient project execution. Prepare and conduct weekly safety sessions for crews, ensuring adherence to safety protocols through situational training. Maintain detailed project schedules and weekly rosters for all crews and assignments. Coordinate projects and programs with partners and sponsors, ensuring strong relationships and project success. Lead interviews and participate in the orientation of new corpsmember applicants. Support the Project Manager in the coordination and supervision of corpsmember development and training programs. Oversee and manage all equipment, project materials, safety supplies, and replenishments to maintain efficiency and budget adherence. Be a proactive business development leader, acquiring new accounts and contracts to grow the department's portfolio. Reporting and Record Keeping Prepare and supervise the preparation of daily project records, including vehicle inspections, safety tailgate forms, inventory tracking, tool and equipment use, accident reports, and crew assignments. Ensure fleet vehicle maintenance and supervise all departmental vehicles, equipment, and tools to guarantee safe and efficient operations. Schedule crews and manage logistics for projects, including supervision, transportation, equipment, training, and project monitoring. Track and monitor expenses, including fuel card usage, to maintain budget compliance. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and final reports of project activities, specifically gathering and tracking data for reporting metrics related to Cal Recycle and other related grants. Oversee revenues received from commercial recyclers, ensuring accurate payments and fair pricing. Represent CCLB at professional conferences and external training sessions. Manage and reconcile monthly budget expenses and revenues for all projects to ensure financial targets are met. Supervision Directly supervise and evaluate all recycling and urban beautification projects, Crew Supervisors, and corpsmembers to ensure high performance and quality outcomes. Counsel, motivate, and discipline corpsmembers and staff as necessary to maintain productivity and professional standards. Participate in staff and corpsmember trainings and meetings, promoting a culture of learning and development. Required Education and Experience High School Diploma or equivalent required. 5 to 10 years of experience working in the recycling industry or with Cal Recycle grants, including familiarity with grant writing and management. At least three years of prior supervisory experience in a related field. Demonstrated ability to acquire new business accounts and maintain strong client relationships, with a focus on customer satisfaction. Strong knowledge of recycling, natural lands management, and community greening, including technical writing for proposal bids and contracts. Ability to effectively communicate written and verbal instructions and directions. Appreciation of environmental conservation and a commitment to fostering environmental ethics among staff and corpsmembers. Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with public officials, community groups, and other stakeholders. Preferred Education and Experience Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from an accredited college or university in a related field. Prior experience in scheduling and supervising crews. Prior management experience within public or non-profit agencies. Other Duties and Requirements DMV print-out and Class C Driver's License required. First Aid/CPR certification required within 30 days of employment. Employment is contingent upon validation of a good driving record. Perform other duties as assigned. Salary and Benefits: $66,560.00 - $77,022.40 annually (reflects the base rate to mid range of the pay range - rank 19) based on a level of experience and education that exceeds the minimum requirements and is commensurate with the compensation scale (salary range).
