Coordinates and reviews the work of security supervisors on all shifts to ensure a safe, secure, and productive environment. Leads, develops, counsels, and disciplines staff. Conducts periodic inspections to ensure compliance with security post audit, policies and procedures governing all aspects of institutional operations. Assists the Warden and Assistant Warden in long-term planning, and development of security and contingency plans. Interacts with institutional, regional, divisional, and departmental management, staff, visitors, inmates, and the public to maintain orderly and secure operations. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Valid Driver's License. Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) Certification. Extensive experience in the supervision of corrections staff. Experience working as a Department of Corrections (DOC) Watch Commander or Shift Commander. Working experience developing post orders, interpreting, and explaining written policies and procedures to staff. Comprehensive knowledge of Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC) policies, procedures, and practices. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems effectively. Demonstrated ability to lead, develop and counsel staff. Considerable working knowledge of physical control of inmates, self-defense, first aid procedures, radio communications, and evidence seizure and control. Additional Considerations LEAD Graduate or equivalent applicable experience or training. Working experience with Evidence Based Practices.
