Job Details: Job Summary: The Assistant Product Manager (APM) plays a key role in supporting the product management team by collaborating with cross-functional teams to plan, execute, and analyze various business initiatives. A key responsibility of the APM is inventory management, particularly in mitigating distressed products. This entry-level position works closely with the broader team to implement strategic business and marketing plans, ensuring that corporate and product objectives for volume, profit, and market share are achieved. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Support the Product Manager and Senior Product Manager in achieving volume and profit targets for assigned categories in alignment with corporate goals. Contribute to the execution of business strategies to meet financial and market share objectives for product categories. Track and analyze performance metrics, recommending and implementing corrective actions to meet category goals. Interpret data to identify actionable insights that drive business initiatives and improve results. Assist in developing and executing product and packaging design plans, including concept development, feasibility studies, research and development, project execution, and tracking performance in the market. Participate in monthly volume forecasting, working closely with demand and supply planning to ensure accurate forecasting. Implement product specification changes as needed. Monitor production and inventory levels, working with Customer Service Representatives (CSRs) and sales teams to mitigate distressed inventory and achieve targets. Track packaging inventory and ensure appropriate levels. Manage customer timelines, ensuring deliverables are met on schedule. Develop a solid understanding of Tyson systems, processes, and customer packaging development systems. Engage with cross-functional teams to manage assigned projects efficiently. Participate in customer sales meetings and calls. Keep track of industry trends, market share, and competitive activity to inform business decisions. Collaborate with Customer Marketing to create sales tools and execute promotional initiatives. Work closely with customer business teams to develop and execute customer plans, including packaging R&D, project management, and tracking in-market performance. Partner with the sales organization to integrate customer strategies into business and brand plans. Collaborate with Sales Strategy and Planning teams to ensure accurate forecasts and capitalize on opportunities to meet business objectives. Requirements: Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field required, or 2 years of relevant experience in lieu of education. Experience: At least 2 years of relevant experience in the meat or food industry, with a preference for pork. Computer Skills: Basic computer proficiency required. Communication Skills: Strong communication and presentation skills are essential, along with knowledge of Tyson internal systems such as SAP, NPD, Tango, and PPS. Special Skills: Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities, proven collaboration skills with cross-functional teams, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
