We are currently seeking candidates to fill the Senior Accountant role in our Spencer MA location. The Senior Accountant is responsible for a company's financial procedures, records, and statements for compliance with laws and regulations. This position will support the North America and Asia operations by maintaining the ledgers, reconciliations, fixed assets records, audit processes, and standard cost transactions. What will you do in this role? •Drive qualitative improvements in accounting, reporting and controls to become more efficient and effective and to reduce/eliminate control deficiencies. •Prepare complex journal entries, reconciliations and supporting workpapers. •Perform analyses to explain variances in financial results and resolve reconciling items. •Prepare monthly analysis of capital spend and monitor against approved capital plan. •Create asset related transactions and post monthly depreciation. •Prepare annual property tax filings and prepare sales and use tax reporting. •Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics. •Evaluate standard cost transactions for accuracy. •Perform other duties as assigned. Other duties consistent with the general nature and focus of the position and/or the goals and objectives of the department may be assigned. What does it take to be successful in this role? •Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. •At a minimum, the position requires 3+ years of relevant experience. Knowledge of Cost Accounting practices for a manufacturing company in an ERP environment. •Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). •Works with confidential payroll, investments, and liabilities data where the effect of any disclosure would probably be significant. •Ability to perform work with minimal supervision. •Proficiency of personal computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel. Strong Internet research skills. Accuracy, time management, organization, and communication skills. Strong human relations skills and interpersonal skills. Ability to use judgment and initiative. Ability to work with interruptions and able to pay attention to detail while being flexible and responsive to various needs of others. •The candidate must be comfortable and skilled working with diverse personalities. Internal customers range from production workers to senior management.External customers include consultants and auditors. •Knowledge of the practice, methods, and techniques of process improvement.
