Holtec International, a supplier of products and services to the worldwide nuclear power industry, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Design Engineering Group. The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for assisting in the successful implementation of projects and provides technical support to the design and fabrication departments. For the currently available positions, Holtec is seeking engineers with experience and expertise in mechanical design to support growth of our Dry Fuel Storage and Transportation group. The engineer in this position must have an aptitude for practical engineering and fabrication, a willingness to immerse one's self in the position and rapidly learn the business, ability to work with little supervision, have strong leadership skills, and be willing to travel periodically. Principal duties include: Coordinate and perform integrated product development and integrated engineering processes to fulfill project requirements and achieve target dates. Review of product design for compliance with engineering principles, contract requirements, and applicable standards Author and review design changes, specifications, analyses and drawings Prepare and review design concept drawings for equipment using input from various technical disciplines Prepare and review detailed fabrication drawings to be used by manufacturers to fabricate Holtec equipment Prepare Purchase/Technical Specifications and Operations and Maintenance Manuals for company product line Provide technical resolutions for manufacturing deviations requested by the fabricators Compliance with strict quality assurance standards and on time delivery Travel (less than 20% of time) Holtec International has a worldwide business. Holtec is an Equal Opportunity Employer Requirements All candidates MUST possess the following: Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited, four-year university. Minimum of five years of experience in a design or manufacturing environment. Capability and willingness to assume full responsibility for project tasks. Excellent attention to detail and capability for producing error-free documents. Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, analytical and problem solving skills Knowledge of engineering design practices and principles (e.g. interference checks, tolerance stack-ups, fits, GD&T) Experience with using industry codes to develop equipment design. Experience working with engineers and fabricators to develop designs and drawings Ability to handle multiple tasks and complete work in a timely fashion with minimal supervision Minimum of 3 years of experience using CAD software to create detailed equipment package drawings. The following experience/training is desirable: Experience in the design of equipment for the nuclear and/or power generation industry Understanding of the design and manufacturing processes of steel structures and pressure vessels Knowledge, application and understanding of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes. Knowledge, application and understanding of AISC codes. Knowledge, application and understanding of AWS codes. Knowledge and understanding of ASME Y14.5 standards Experience in the preparation of P&ID, PFD, and General Arrangement drawings for skid mounted or permanent equipment packages. Experience with the installation, commissioning, and trouble shooting of process equipment in a manufacturing or power plant environment. Experience in the preparation of equipment Operating and Maintenance Manuals for process equipment.
